Maze's Mumblings

Both Favorites Advance

The Dynasty almost pulled off the miracle against the 3-T, but came up just a bit short, 906 – 927. Going into the game shorthanded with the Big Ticket only having 2 games, Coach Karmazyn gave his team very little chance. Things got off to a good start early in the week as Garnett got an 88 – 89 in his 2 games. The 3-T got off to an unusually slow start and things looked good. Coach Maze spent most of the week cussing at himself for not starting Davis who had a 160 on his bench. I’m sure the 3-T staff wish they had Brand who was on the DL and PJ Brown who was on there bench outscoring Swift who they started instead. By the time Sunday rolled around it looked the Dynasty had this one in the bag. Coach maze did a cardinal sin in a fantasy league and that is look ahead to his future opponent by checking the following weeks games and matchups. That was a big mistake, Williams of Memphis had a career week with a 210, scoring 71 on Monday. Arenas had a career high in points and put up a 62 on Sunday. Lewis also had a 51 on Sunday erasing an earlier 19. The comeback was complete and 3-T sent coach Karmazyn packing for the long trip back to Pittsburgh. Another frustrating season for the Dynasty, leaving Maze mumbling something about next wait till next year. As for the 3-T, a playoff win in their first season back in the league is a nice way to get their feet wet again. Another win this week is definitely not out of realm of possibility.

In the other playoff game, the Demons faced off against the Victory. The Demons had their number in the regular season as they handed Alford 2 of his losses. We all know by now how hard it is to beat a team 3 times in a row. That trend held true as the Victory blew up for a 934 – 856 victory. Erdman has known for weeks he would have problems this week as he looked it up earlier to see Wallace and Anderson only had 2 games apiece. That is why he wanted the Bye this week so bad. To compound things Williams missed his last 2 games, Mobley who was hot had 5 games and only mustered up a 104. He picked up Hilario because he had 5 games but he only could get a 110. Things originally looked bad for Brain as he benched Iggy for the 1st time all year and he had a 60 something to start the week. Parker eased his pain a little as he ended up with a decent 130.  Mashburn, Marion, and O'Neal had a 158,183and 215 to lead the way to a possible back-to-back championship. With his arch nemesis out of the way the Victory hope to raise his hand in victory once more.
