The Cossack Report Quarterfinals and scrub bowl 1

I still would like guys to call in stats, especially if you think you’re in the running for a scrub bowl. The play-off teams obviously have to call theirs in.

Off this week = Denver

The Hitmen beat the Bandits 67-39, but there was a lot more to this game than meets the eye. This game was 26-24 Hitmen going into Monday night, but it shouldn’t have been that close. The Hitmen coach Al Dotson, did the cardinal sin in coaching and that is over coach. He released Cleve. Def who helped get him to this pt. And they had 22 to the N.E. def that he picked up who had 7. He released Indy Kickers who had 12, compared to the 3 he got from Balt. He also did not take the advice of coach Karmazyn and pick up TE Baxter who had 9. All these blunders, but it still didn’t matter. Al had to know he was doomed when I made the statement to him that Bruce hasn’t done shit in a month. That statement was the kiss of death to Al. Bruce had a career day of 27 pts, to go along with 14 from Faulk and turned this once tight game into a route. The Hitmen now must travel to Ft. Myers and face the Manatees. The Manatees looked like they would be vulnerable without Alexander starting but Watters broke his foot and Alexander is once again the man.

What can we say about coach Uhl that hasn’t already been said before? It looks like Frank has the same curse that coach Karmazyn has and that is no matter how good your team is it is never meant to be that your name would grace the FFL trophy. Coach Uhl made the statement that all the stars have to be aligned just right to win this damn thing, and isn’t that the truth. The Machine had their lowest score of the year at the worst possible time. The two wins over the Fish in the regular season don’t mean squat. Kumpf and Sturken took advantage of a huge brake I forgot to mention last week in the 2 TD’s that WR Terrell of the Contrib. dropped that would have sent the Fish to the scrub bowl. You have to take advantage these things and the Fish surely did. They made some key coaching moves in picking up Jax Def. and N.E. kickers and got a good day from Dillon to easily lead them to 2nd round. Next on the Horizon is the 2 time champ, the Wapati. The Wapati have been slumping as of late and an upset in not out of the question. Are the stars aligned just right for the Fish, time will tell.

The Luck, furious over just missing the play-offs took out there frustrations on the rest of the scrub bowl participants by easily winning it with a league high 86. Their closest competitor was the Demons, who had 71. Coach Alford wants at least one more to ease his pain.

Coaching blunder of the week = the Machine releasing Pitt. QB’s who had 21 and activating Jax QB’s who had 3. The bandits releasing Indy Kickers who had 9 for Balt. Who had 12.and the Bandits releasing Cleve. Def. who had 22 for N.E. who had 7. None of these moves actually cost them the game however.

Record last week = 1-1

Season to date = 66-40

at Manatees + 6

at Wapati + 3
