The Cossack Report         week # 12

As usual I will take any suggestions that can make our league the best fantasy league out there. Not that I think it isn’t already, I know it is. There is however always room for improvement. If you have rules or scoring suggestions, I will consider putting them on our vote sheet that will be out soon. Also take a look at the player points race, there a few close ones, remember that if they haven’t had their off week yet, we only use the first 12 weeks that they play.

The play-off senerios

The Hitmen have won the A-div. and will host the first round play-off game

The Manatees and Hitmen play each other this week and the Winner Wins the Div. and gets a bye, the loser is the wild-card and will play the Hitmen

The Wapati have won the D-div. and get the Bye

The Machine have won the C-Div. and will host the wild-card game

The Luck and Fish are tied for the Wild-card with 21 pts, and the Fish own the tie-breaker.

Back to the Drawing Board

With another sad performance by the Cossacks, they are now officially eliminated from the play-off hunt. As usual coach Karmazyn guessed wrong on what RB to play, and another weak effort by the Wr’s send the Cossacks to the relatively uncharted waters of the scrub bowl. The top WR Tandem in the league, Harrison and Brown, once again led the Bandits. Coach Dotson really enjoyed sweeping the Cossacks and also be the ones to eliminate them. Coach Dotson is biting his tongue trying not to brag, but down deep I know he is. Coach Karmazyn always take the blame for a poor performance but in this case a house cleaning will have to be done in his assistant coaching staff. RB and WR coaches might as well start looking for employment elsewhere, as this group was obviously the week link to this team. Having the 3rd highest pts against in the league didn’t help matters much this year.

The Manatees clinched a play-off spot with a win over (DD) doormat Demons for those of you that forgot. 79-69. The mouths from Ft. Myers are still ringing in my ears, please someone knock this team off, or else I might not hear the end of it. Wr Horn has been more than a pleasant surprise this year and had 21 this week to set the pace. The Demons had a chance to help the Cossacks stay alive, but let me down. I’m sure he’ll have some in the tank for me next week just to rub salt in my wounds. They made a valiant effort and almost pulled if off. If the refs wouldn’t have called back G.B.’s interception for a TD back, the outcome could have been different.

The game of the week was obviously the Hitmen Hummers game. The Hummers took any chances of a Hitmen bye , by beating them 108-91. God, that is a tough game to lose, especially with so much on the line. RB Faulk, even though he missed a few weeks has set himself apart for high RB with 34 this week. Those Hummers are one tough team to figure out. They went over 100 for the 2nd time this year. Consistency has been this teams downfall, because the talent was obviously there. The Hummers have got to be the odds on favorite to take a few scrub-bowls if it is any consolation.

In a meaningless game between 2 scrub-bowl bound teams found the Cows putting a dagger in the Deaths heart, 86-55. St.L. Def is now back in the hunt for high Def. , which should give coach Driver something to look forward to this week. Rumor has it that coach Snyder is no longer a fan of team QB as Minn QB’s back-up came in and sent them from –1 to 19 on one quarter, effectively eliminating Indy ‘s chances for the side pot. At least coach Snyder has basketball to look forward to.

A late bomb from Plummer to Boston saved the day for the Fish, as they edged out the Contrib. 63-58. Someone tell coach Kumpf to enjoy his vacation in Disneyland with the family and not have a nervous breakdown about what is happening in the league. A win and top 8 this week will clinch a play-off spot, so they control their own destiny. Knowing that I’m sure Kumpf will be on volume by the weekend. The paper team (Contrib.) once again proved to be paper only, and again look forward to basketball.

The Machine clinched the Div. with their 48-40 win over the Destroyers. 48 is a sad win but coach Uhl will take it to the bank. Coach S. Snyder has no one to blame but himself for this loss, as he benched Dyson and his 8 pts for Mack and 0. The move cost them a chance at the wild-card and sent them to post season hell, the scrub-bowl. Keyshon again added to his record for catches without a TD. The odds are in his favor that he will soon score. Coach Uhl is hoping he saves it for a play-off game and doesn’t waste it this week.

The Luck had a bye this week, just as predicted last week. They played the Bombers and handed them another whooping 76-24. Why the Bombers even show up these days is a question that remains unanswered. The Luck now have a chance at a wild-card and with their next game against the Maulers I can definitely see it happening. They will have to do it without TE Sharpe. Coach Alford is out to prove that him being a rookie in this league means nothing.

Record last week 6-2 and rather good line I might add

Record to date 56-38

****

at Manatees                     + 2 Bandits

at Fish                               + 9 Destroyers

***

at Luck                             + 7 Maulers

at Cossacks                    + 1 Demons

**

Hitmen                            + 11 at Cows

At Hummers                   + 17 Death

*

at Machine                     + 14 Contributors

at Wapati                       + 22 Bombers

Coaching blunder of the week : has to be the Destroyers benching Dyson , who would have won the game and kept their play-off hopes alive.
