Cossacks Finish on a Positive Note

Coach Karmazyn rallied the troops for the last week to save what little dignity he has left by beating the Demons 69-50. They got revenge on the Demons who beat them earlier in the year. Yes, Emmit did score for the 2nd week in a row, a little too late now Emmitt. Henry also contributed 13. If I could have gotten production from the RB spot like this all year , I wouldn’t be scrub bowl bound. Coach Brady was rudely introduced to playing with the big boys this year. Their 3-10 record was the lowest in the league, I wonder if coach Erdman was having second thoughts now that he knows what coach Brady brings to the table.

The 4 star game of the week was the Bandits and the Manatees with the div. title on the line. Going into Sunday night’s game the Manatees had 4 players left and the Bandits only had one with the manatees already up by one. Coach Ratliff then proceeded to make the comment " so might as well start engraving the trophy now. In that late game he had 3 players go and only get 3 pts, which made him quite nervous. Who would have thought that a Miami QB would be able to get 29. That 29 enabled them to blow out the Bandits 78-52 and save face as well as get the bye.

The Hitmen got some much-needed momentum back by upending the Cows 73-63. Faulk once again proved his dominance of the RB position by extending his lead in the high RB side pot by getting 20. The Cows have come on strong the last few games, but it way too late. They could be a team to reckon with in the scrub bowls.

The Hummers win again, another team that has come on as of late. This time the Death went down, but that is nothing unusual. Moss is one of the hottest receivers in the league right now, maybe if he feels like it he will make a good showing in the scrub bowl. The Philly trio stepped up again with 34 combined. The Philly Def. also caught the Steelers to tie for high Def. That fluky fumble recovery when Tomlinson just dropped the ball is what made the difference. I believe I can still hear coach Karmazyn grumbling about that one. The Steelers had the lowest pts against, lowest yardage allowed, most sacks but somehow has to share the side=pot, go figure.

The Machine might finally have justified the 2nd round pick of RB Bennett. They started him for the first time all year and he responded with a 22. coach Mcswain still made a game of it by scoring 63, but the –4 from their def. killed them and gave the win to the Machine who put up 72. I wonder if Mcswain wishes he had Miami QB’s back, that 29 would have looked good on his 63 this week. The Machine look forward to another meeting with the Fish, and hope to make it a clean sweep on the year.

The Fish needed a win to get in and managed to get just that 55-46. It wasn’t pretty, as usual for this Fish team. They do get it done when the chips are on the line. I do think they need to get the schedulers a case of beer because their 9th ranked scoring offense in the league obviously got a few breaks during the coarse of the year. Coach Kumph did pop off a little by letting it be known that he has never been out of the play-offs since he has been a participant.

The Wapati again let their team take a week off, by only getting 44. They get the bye next week and then play in the semis. These coaches better be able to shake off the rust because they have been in cruise control for some time now. Its not easy to just turn it up when you want, so don’t be too confident, the top ranked team in the league usually doesn’t win it. The Bombers didn’t bother to show up again, which is also nothing new. 35 this week were again the weekly low.

The Luck has run out! With the Fish winning, but only scoring 55, the luck needed to win and get a top 8 to make the play-offs. Oh, they got the top 8 all right, with 78, which were tied for 2nd highest this week. You would think that a play-off spot was theirs, but WR Chambers had something to say about that. The Maulers were down by only 3 and chambers got 16 Monday night to send the Luck to the scrub bowl. That loss has got to be the toughest of any game this year. Playoffs on the line, you score the 2nd highest, and lose to the high team for the week, which happened to be one of the lower scoring teams in the league. Coach Myers/Myers relished their role as spoiler, and have their sights set on a few scrub bowls.
