Week #12

We finally have three division winners, while the rest of the playoff picture remains clear as mud. There are many scenarios that can play out, I will attempt to outline the chances, but there are so many tiebreaker scenarios involving seeding opportunities that I will just have to keep it somewhat short:

The Doggy Style and Maulers have clinched the A and B Divisions respectfully. The Plague, Machine and Cows have all been eliminated from playoff contention. The Cossacks have clinched a wildcard spot, but it remains to be seen whether it will be wildcard 1 or 2. The Death and Manatees will battle for the final wildcard spot, and they do face off head to head the final week. The Death need just a single point to claim the final wildcard spot. A Death win, or a top 8 finish and they are in. The Manatees need a win over the Death and must get a top 8, and also will need the Death not to get a top 8.

The Destroyers have clinched the D Division. The Fish and the Elephants have been eliminated. Now for the fun......
Beach Bums hold a 3point lead over the Contributors in the C Division, and those two face off the final week. The Beach Bums need a single point to clinch the division. A Contributors win along with a top 8, combined with no top 8 for the Beach Bums, and the Contributors win the Division. The Beach Bums are guaranteed a wildcard spot no matter what. The Contributors can still get a wildcard spot with a loss, if either the Wapati or Filiricans lose.
The Wapati can claim a wildcard spot with a win over the Elephants and top 8 finish. The Filiricans can claim a wildcard spot with a win over the Bandits and Wapati loss. The scenario for these two teams takes a whole new twist based upon top 8 finish combined with win and loss. Several scenarios are possible.
The Bandits are the real long shot. They need to beat the Filiricans, get a top 8 and then have the Wapati lose and not get a top 8. The Bandits would have 19 points, the same as Wapati, but would get the wildcard spot on the first tiebreaker, total wins.

I am sure there are many more twists and turns the playoff race will take, that is the basic summary. If something is not correct, the standings speak for themselves in the end!

Here is a look at the week 12 action:

Cossacks 57    Plague 50
Maze/Mac get the win as their Cossacks hold on to end the Plague's playoff hopes. The Cossacks miss out on the top 8 by 2 points, something that could prove costly come seeding time. A monster week from McAllister with 31 led the way for the playoff bound Cossacks. Bill/John get solid days from Tomlinson and Johnson, but the normally reliable Ward scores 0 leaving them a little short.

Maulers 90    Cows 46
Merv/Mike get their Maulers back on track as they score 90 in the easy win over the Cows. Chad Johnson backs up his talk with a 28 point day, while Holt puts himself in position to win the WR points race with another solid week. Tom's Cows get a 5 TD day from QB Hasselbeck, but very little else.

Machine 106    Manatees 44
Frank/Jim watch their Machine go off for the 2nd straight week and take top honors with the 106 point effort. Big days galore for the Machine, as James, Boston and Boldin all go for 20+. The Machines petition to extend the regular season 6 weeks was denied. Ratt gets a -4 from Collins to cap off a disappointing weekend for his Manatees. Holmes did take back the RB points lead in a lost opportunity weekend for the team.

Death 70    Doggy Style 24
The Commish gets solid days from TB Def, Akers and Westbrook to defeat the Doggy Style easily. The Death have a potential QB problem, as the gambled on dropping Brooks who ended up having a big day. What to say about another league low scoring week for Jeff/Scott's Doggy Style, other than..... congrats, you won the division this week! Go figure?

Filiricans 75    Elephants 59
Johnny/Matt get the must win from their Filiricans as they knock off the Elephants and stay in the wildcard chase. A solid week from WR's Smith and Bruce led the team, who face another must win in the final week. Tom/Joel get a respectable week from their Elephants, but come up a bit short. Williams finally had the game they were looking for the last two months, as he had 19 to lead the team.

Contributors 105    Bandits 48
John/Eric's Contributors top the century mark as they keep themselves in the division hunt. Big days from Jackson with 26 and Dunn with 21 lead the way. Dunn also broke off an 86 yard TD reception, taking over the side pot. Ironically Dunn's season also ended this week with a ankle injury. Al's Bandits drop the game thanks to the Contributors big day. The loss is costly as it puts the Bandits in a long shot position for a wildcard spot. Faulk looks good with 15, but very little support from his teammates.

Destroyers 66    Beach Bums 62
Steve/Joe's Destroyers hold on for the win as they clinch the D Division title. Twelve was the number of the day for the Destroyers, as Faulk, Robinson and McCareins all score 12 points to lead the team. Alford's Bums drop a key game as they miss an opportunity to clinch the C Division. Brady was solid with 14, but a off day from Moss and Barber was the deciding factor.

Wapati 57    Fish 48
Boyd/Butch get back on the winning side as their Wapati win a crucial game over the Fish. Kitna was the top gun with 17, along with help from Coles with 12. The Wapati now control their own destiny, so another win and they should be in the playoffs. Wayne/Rich's Fish drop to 3-9 with the loss. A tough year for the defending champs, maybe a scrub bowl win or two to salvage a forgettable season.
