Week #10
As we enter the home stretch playoff spots are still up for grabs as teams jockey for position. The B Division remains the toughest in the league, as all 4 teams battle for a post season birth. The A Division is a two team race, while the C Division and D Division look to have interesting finishes. This week saw the top team Maulers knocked off by the Bandits, while the Plague nearly posted a season high as the top scoring team. Injuries continue to take a toll on some teams, this week Harrison joined the injured list as the Destroyers drop another game. Injuries just may be the deciding factor for many teams, both missing players and getting some back. Look no further than the Bandits upset of the Maulers, as a now healthy Faulk shined in his return.
Here is a look at the week 10 action:
Plague 111
Elephants 72
Big week for the Plague, as Bill/John get a
solid team effort in posting the league high score. The Plague remain 5 in back
of the Doggy Style, but right in the thick of the wildcard race. Tomlinson was
the top gun for the Plague with 28, helped out by WR's Ward and Gardner with 19
and 18 respectively. Tom/Joel get a 2nd straight encouraging performance from
their Elephants, but it was not enough for a win. Pennington looks like a solid
late season pickup as he had 17, many of which was thrown to Elephants WR Moss
who went off for a 2nd straight week. While the Elephants playoff hopes are
minimal, this is a dangerous team to face off against.
Contributors 64
Cows 38
John/Eric get a win over lacking Cows
lineup. The Contributors got a big day from Dunn who finally got the carries for
the lowly Falcons, while McNabb posted double digits again in his climb back to
respectability. The team is in the thick of the wildcard race, McNabb is the guy
they will look to to keep up the solid play. Tom's Cows could only field 5
active players as they drop another game they could have won. Starting Dillon
(listed as out all week), Lelie (on a bye) and Carney (on a bye) is you need to
know about the Cows story this week and this year for that matter.
Beach Bums 77
Machine 49
Alford's Bums get the win to keep the top
spot in the C Division. Moss is the leader again with 17, while bye week QB
Blake fills in with 15. A solid team effort as the Bums control their own
destiny down the stretch. Frank/Jim drop to 2-8 in a season that they would like
to forget. Cracking the 50 point mark has been tough for the Machine, and this
week it was 0 from their defense and tight end that prevented that from
happening. Boston showed signs of life again with 13, but it will be the spoiler
role for the Machine in the closing weeks.
Doggy Style 84
Wapati 77
Jeff/Scott again show they are a top
contender posting a top 3 score as they narrowly beat the Wapati. Taylor and
Smith had big days for Jacksonville as they lead the offense, while McNair
continues to shine as a top QB this season. The "Sinking Rock" or whatever
Wapati means are struggling to win. Boyd/Butch had a solid week, but came up a
little short. Look no further than a disappointing return from Moulds with 3,
and most importantly another 0 from TE Jolley, who has lost his spot in the
Raiders offense. There were plenty of TE's that would have given the Wapati a
win, but it was to late on the trigger for this sinking team.
Bandits 89
Maulers 79
In the Game of the Week, Al's Maulers drop
the top team Maulers in a tight game. The Bandits get 18 from McCardell, 17 from
Gonzo and a healthy return by Faulk with 17. The Bandits are positioning
themselves for a playoff run and with a healthy Faulk they just may finally have
all the weapons. Merv/Mike drop to 7-2 after the upset. QB Green had a solid day
with 24, but it was finally a drop off to human levels for Holt that proved
costly. With 2 more division matchups to go, the Maulers look like a good bet to
take the Division.
Manatees 80
Destroyers 49
Ratt gets a win as his manatees pick up
ground in the B Division. Holmes is making many regret passing on him draft day
as he once again puts up big numbers. Duckett gets a late TD to score 14, while
Dallas Def takes over the side pot lead with their 16 point game. Steve/Joe drop
their 2nd in a row as their struggling Destroyers not only lose the game, but
may have lost stud WR Harrison for a few weeks. Manning continues to shine with
15, but the Minnesota Def has been brutal recently, posting a -3 this week.
Death 45 Fish
25
After Sunday, the score to this game was
25-13, but the Commish's Death get a big Monday night to get a much needed win.
Green had a huge Monday night with 27, to help the Death get the win that keeps
them in the wildcard race. Wayne/Rich had a bad day from the normally reliable
Bulger, along with 3 zeros to pave the way for a season low for the Fish. Rich
will not Wayne live down the selection of William Green in round one, knowing
they could have had the other Green that beat them this week.
Filiricans 62
Cossacks 35
Johnny/Matt keep the win streak going as
they easily turn back the Cossacks. A big day from Culpepper leads the team,
complimented by another solid day from Davis. Maze/Mac suffer a key loss as
their Cossacks failed to show up. Favre had an off game with 4, joined by Henry
as the leading under performers.
