Week #12

The CRMO remain the lone division winner so far, as the A Division sweeps the B Division to set up a photo finish in the playoff race. In the C/D Conference, the 4 playoff teams have been determined, but seeding will be decided in the final week. Here is a brief look at the playoff race:

The Connection and Lemurs have been eliminated from the playoff race in the A/B Conference. After that, it is anyone's for the taking! In the A Division, the Bullets have 24 team points, while the Dynamite have 22 and the Chieftains have 20. In the B Division, the Death and Lunatics have 22, while the Steamrollers are a point back at 21. These 6 teams will fight it out for 4 playoff spots. I would run down the scenarios, but I think I would rather calculate something less challenging like which NFL QB in the last 10 years has thrown more screen passes to a RB who wore an even number jersey, was from a college the began with an vowel, and was born in an even numbered year.

The CRMO are the D Division champs, while the remaining D Division teams have all been eliminated from the playoffs. The Dragons are eliminated because they lost to the Razor Clams in week 8, and that is the only team they can tie. The Double Stuffed are eliminated, while the Club CC, Vikings and Razor Clams have all secured a playoff spot. These three teams will battle the final week for the division title, as well as playoff seeding.

Here is a look at the week 12 action:

Chieftains 91    Lunatics 49
Harry gets a big week from his TB Def and kicker Akers, as the defeat they Lunatics. Williams also had a nice day for the Chieftains, who now face a must win in the final week. Corey's Lunatics drop a key game as the normally reliable WR corps posted just 18 combined.

Connection 86    Lemurs 52
Chris/Scott get the win in a battle of two teams out of the playoffs. The Connection had the 3rd high score in the league, thanks to big days from Jackson with 26 and Minnesota Def with 24. The Lemurs get the loss, but Ray/Jeff's team score 52, taking the 8th spot for the week in a crucial point for many teams.

Dynamite 85    Steamrollers 50
Larry's Dynamite get the win behind big days from WR Johnson and a suddenly resurgent RB James. The Dynamite ser up the final week showdown where anything is possible. Al/Boyd drop the game and remain a point behind the Death and Lunatics. Bulger had 4 INT's, leaving the team 2 points shy of a top 8 finish.

Bullets 108    Death 51
Bill/John get the convincing win as their Bullets take top scoring honors with an impressive 108. McAllister led the way with 31, while Boldin helped out with 25. The Bullets control their own destiny in the division title chase after the win. Jeff/Steve drop a game and miss out on the top 8 by a single point. Look no further than the Death bench and see Dunn sitting there with 21 points, and a 86 yard TD reception. Starting Johnson seemed like a good idea!

Dragons 44    Vikings 42
Despite the low score, this was the game of the week. Alford's Vikings held a 46-42 lead over Steve/Marv's Dragons going into Monday night. The Vikings had QB Collins left, the Dragons had WR Toomer left. Alford had to like his chances of taking over the C Division lead with a win. Toomer scored just 2 so an apparent Vikings win was soon to follow. Apparently Collins forgot which team he was supposed to throw to, combined with a fumble and it was a -4 point day for Collins. Add it up, and the Dragons escape with a 2 point win. A tough loss for the Vikings who missed a great opportunity to control their own destiny.

Razor Clams 70    Kingpins 66
Don't look now, but here comes Ron and his defending champ Razor Clams! Ron gets a big day from Hasselbeck with 28 to get the narrow win and secure a post season birth. Quite a comeback for the Clams, who really struggled in the early season. Boyd Sr. drops another close game, as his Kingpins bow out of the playoff race in his inaugural season. Boston had a big day for the Kingpins, but a weak effort from Alexander with just 3 was costly.

CRMO 52    Club CC 38
JR's CRMO keep rolling as they turn back the Club CC. Holmes was the leader again with 18 for the playoff bound CRMO. Troy/Trent drop a crucial game thanks to a 0 from Burress and Hambrick, along with mediocre days from their GB duo. The Club CC are still playoff bound, but need a bounce back week to secure the division title.

Starfish 57    Double Stuffed 32
Brian's Starfish get a win and a top 8 finish, but will watch the playoffs from the sidelines. Indy Def and kicker Andersen both scored in double digits as they just have one game left against the CRMO. Fran/Billy's season to forget continues.
