Week #9

The playoff races are getting pretty tight in the A & B Divisions, as 6 teams are within 2 points of each other. Meanwhile, in the C & D Divisions there are 4 teams within 3 points battling for  the wildcards, while all are within striking distance of their division leaders. The toughest division race looks to be the B Division, with 3 teams within 2 points of each other and all with a 6-3 record or better. Injuries keep popping up all over the place, and teams are scrambling to fill the holes. Please remember to check out the rosters when looking for available players, I have had numerous emails in the last few weeks with teams trying to claim players already on teams. Also, don't forget the franchise rule, that to as been a headache to deal with. This is the final week of bye weeks, remember to send in multiple choices!!!! Also, if you send in bye week choices early in the week, as many teams do, it would be in your best interest to check back and see if the players were claimed as free agents. Several teams recently have very nearly gone without a QB or TE because there bye week list included players claimed during the week. I can only go with what you sent, so make sure you have enough valid claims.

Here is a look at the week 9 action:

Chieftains 75    Connection 60
Harry's Chieftains put up a solid week and move to the top of the A Division after their win over the Connection. Harry has this year's breakout player in Holt, who put up 23 and took over sole possession of the side pot lead at WR. Chris/Scott went MIA this week, first starting Henry on a bye, and then not sending in scores at all. With a 2-7 record, time is running out for the Connection.

Dynamite 56    Bullets 44
Larry gets the win thanks to good games from James and Smith. The Dynamite are in a battle for the A Division lead, and while Manning had just 8 this week, he should be the man they look to for the big days down the stretch. Bill/John suffer the loss and give up the A Division lead in the process. It was a very average day for the Bullets, with Garner the lone player to hit double digits.

Steamrollers 55    Lemurs 52
Al/Boyd get the win over the Lemurs, thanks to a pulled groin suffered by Lemurs kicker Elam. The Lemurs had a 7 point lead going into Monday night, and with an early FG and few PAT's, it seemed like a Lemurs victory was in hand. But Portis responded with a TD run and on the made FG Elam tweaked his groin. Portis continued to rack up the yards, while Elam watched from the sideline. Denver had several obvious FG attempt situations, but Elam couldn't shake off the groin problem and the Steamrollers get the win by 3. Portis was the top guy for the Steamrollers with 16, while Johnson and Ward both put up 13 for the Lemurs.

Lunatics 103    Death 70
Corey gets the top score of the week award as his Lunatics hand the Death loss #3 in a row. A huge day from Santana Moss with 32 was just the start of the 100+ point week for the Lunatics. The other two Lunatic WR's both had 14, giving the team 60 points at the WR spot. Jeff/Steve got their Death back on track scoring wise, but it was still another loss. The Death now find themselves in 3rd place in the division after a perfect 6-0 start to the year.

Vikings 82    Razor Clams 45
Alford's Vikings put up the 2nd best day in the league as they easily defeat the Razor Clams. Collins and Thomas both go for 17, while Tomlinson chips in 11. Ron's Razor Clams had been fighting their way back from a horrible start, but the win streak comes to an end with the mediocre performance. No player really had a big day, and a -1 from Hall was the lowlight for the team. The Clams have battled back and have a completely revamped roster now, so a repeat performance of last year championship season is still not out of the question.

Club CC 80    Double Stuffed 46
Troy/Trent's Club CC add to the misery of the Double Stuffed as they post an 80 and keep first place in the C Division. Green was the top guy for the team with 17 while Favre helped out with 12. Fran/Billy finally crack the 40 point barrier but were still way short of a win as their Double Stuffed are simply outmanned yet again. Pittman stepped up with 14 for the Stuffed, but at 1-8 it would take a major miracle for them to find a spot in the post season.

CRMO 40    Kingpins 38
In a the snoozer of the week, JR's CRMO team gets the win over the Kingpins. The D Division leading CRMO knew it would be tough going this week without Priest, but luckily the Kingpins cooperated with nearly 20 points below their scoring average. Life is good for JR these days as the Kingpins were the lone team in the league they would have beat. Boyd Sr's team got 10 from Alexander, but two goose eggs from Gardner and Franks were their downfall.

Dragons 73    Starfish 46
Steve/Marv get the win a top 8 finish as their Dragons try and keep pace with the playoff contenders. Culpepper is playing well for the Dragons, as he led the team with 18. Brian's Starfish drop to 2-7 as they had decent games from just bye week sub Pennington and Indy Def. Dillon and Wayne both had 0, an all to familiar score for these two.
