THE COLLEGE COMPETITOR   Playoff Edition 2.11

Last weeks Competitor stated that the regular season now means nothing and scoring could evaporate for the season front runners. This statement came true as both top seeds had off weeks and were bounced from the playoffs early. Once you begin the second season, it’s all about the team that gets hot over the final three games. Here is a recap of round two Play off action.

Lightning  @ Predators; 101- 60 Lightning

After leading the league with an incredible scoring average, the top seeded Predators hit a wall and their great season comes to a harsh end. Maroney was a late scratch when his ankle did not hold up, and the Predators day was off to a dismal start.  The usually lethal tandem of Leinert and Jarrett could not pick up the slack as the Predators went down to defeat. They had a year that Coach Merv can be proud of, and for consolation take third place along with several side pots. Congrats on a solid year! The Lightning faced the same bad news as their opponent when their stud Williams was also a late scratch with an ankle problem. Unlike the Predators, the Lightning were able to overcome this set back with incredible games by the Irish tandem of Quinn and Stovall. The two posted a combined 56 points! Coach Merv was lamenting the fact that his Son, the Venom Coach, let Stovall go after taking him in the Draft! Turned out he lost by more then the great game by the Irish receiver. The Lightning got a solid game from Hagen as well, and move on to the Championship game in only their second season in the league.

Stallions @ DragonFarts; 85 - 46 Stallions

The Horses run down the home stretch with a little breathing room after being involved in nail biters in recent weeks. Coach Mike’s team has been extremely consistent all year, and he gets rewarded with a trip to the big stage. The Missouri QB Smith bounced back with a huge game to lead the team. The BYU RB Brown once again had a solid game to seal the win. The Stallions have the firepower to win if they can once again put it together in the Championship game. Coach Mike is looking for his first Championship ring and wants to get the proverbial monkey off his back and join his Dad and Brother as College Champions. The DragonFarts fall prey to the ebb and flow of Fantasy ball as their usually high-octane team suffered a flame out when it could not afford to. RB Henderson, who has been a MVP of the Fantasy Season, was a complete bust on this day rushing for a minus four yards! Coupled by the minus four points the Cal QB put up and the zero by WR Williams, the Farts suffered a painful defeat. The one bright spot was the play of RB Russell who got a boost when Maroney could not go. Congrats on a great Fantasy season Coach Dave, you can be proud of your team!!! It was just one of those Fantasy days that all coaches have endured at one time or another.

Week Two Scrub Bowl Champion – Elephants 110 Points

The Pach continue their late season surge with an impressive Scrub Bowl win. The Elephants have been one of the strongest teams in the second half of the Season.  If not for a dismal start, Coach Brady might be playing for the Championship. This win vindicates the tough season for the Elephants, Congrats! The Contributors, Browns, and Venom each had respectable games in this contest.

Week one Scrub Bowl II Champion – Game Cocks 109 Points

The Gamers are shaking their heads and wondering “What if” after suffering a devastating half point loss in round one of the Playoffs. If they could only have scored one more point, they would be in the Championship Game. The Gamers explode to take out their frustration on the hapless Cossacks who must have partied the night before and could only muster a dismal 22 points. The Sacks were still hung over from their early exit in the Post Season. Coach Maze will get a chance to redeem himself in next weeks Scrub Bowl II in which he will have to go up against the Predators and Dfarts as well as the surging Game Cocks.

The Championship game is set as The Stallions meet the Lightning in a rematch. In their first meeting, the Stallions were victorious and clinched the A division Championship. The Lightning will gladly let the Horses have that victory in exchange for the overall Championship of the League. It should be a great Game! Good luck to all!

I love this Game!
