THE COLLEGE COMPETITOR              Edition 2.8

This weeks’ competitor will be a little different as it will outline the various scenarios for Post season play. Going into the last week of the Season, five teams are already a lock for the playoffs, while four will battle for the final berth. The all-important first round bye has yet to be decided, so the final week will be filled with plenty of excitement and frustration.

As it stands now the Playoff teams are The Predators, DragonFarts, Lightning, Stallions, Cossacks, and Venom. With 10pts each, The Browns, Contributors, and GameCocks are one point from the final play-off slot. As the Contributors and Gamecocks play each other, one is guaranteed a win and will put the pressure on The Venom to manufacture a Victory.

The Predators and DragonFarts can ensure the first round bye with a Victory. The Predators have the inside track as they Clinched the B Division Championship with another impressive win last week and lead the league with 18pts. They are still averaging an incredible 103 pts per game. With a Victory in week nine, the Farts will win the C division and ensure they are one of the top two seeds.

The Lightning and Stallions clash in the final week, and the winner will clinch the A division crown. Both teams are ensured a playoff berth with 15 Points, but the division Championship will bring a higher seed plus bragging rights. The Lightning had another impressive game in week eight scoring 90 pts to nail down the win. The Stallions lost another heartbreaker scoring 90 in a losing effort. The Horses have had many games like that this year. The Lightning will be without stud Williams, so a victory may be hard to produce. Both the Lightning and Stallions have an outside shot at the bye week with a win and bonus.

Another team riding great momentum in the home stretch is the Mighty Cossacks. They exploded in week eight with a league leading 126 points. Another great game from Michael Bush led the way. With 15 points, the Sacks are guaranteed post season play and still have a shot at the C division championship and a first round bye. They may be hard pressed to accomplish this as Michael Bush is off in week nine. No matter what happens, they will be ready for the post season. Rounding out the possible play-off teams is the Venom with 11 points. They are hanging on by a tenuous thread, and must win or their season will mercifully be over. The Venom is still getting little production at the RB slot, and will not be able to compete until this changes. RB Pittman is still on TD Watch; the Buckeye has yet to see the Endzone despite running well and eating up yardage. On the heels of the Venom WITH 10 Pts are the Browns, Contributors, and GameCocks. The Gamers are peaking at the right time scoring an impressive 118 in week eight. After struggling early in the season, they have recently put it all together and have become a force in the league.  They are getting great production out of Bruins Drew and Olson. The Contributors are riding high as well scoring 97 last week. The defending Champs still have a shot at the playoffs and a chance to repeat. The Browns, like the Venom are limping going into the final week. They will have to play their best ball of the year to make it to the Dance.

Teams on the outside looking in are the Redhawks (9), Keglers (8), and Elephants (6). The Keglers and Elephants are eliminated, and the Hawks have a small ray of hope.  It has been a frustrating year for each of these franchises, and they have felt the wrath of College Fantasy Ball. Sometimes this game makes no sense at all!!!!!

Good luck! There is still much to play for; several teams hold their destiny in their own hands, some need a little help.

I love this game!
