THE COLLEGE COMPETITOR              Edition 2.5

Week five saw two teams get their first loss and two get their first win. Every one has now tasted Victory as well as defeat. All three divisions remain competitive as we enter week six division play. No team is technically eliminated from the division championship, so week six can define the season for many. Here is a recap of week five action.

Venom @ Lightning ; 129 - 91 Lightning

The Lightning strike again with a league leading score of 129.  They truly looked impressive scoring top to bottom, and are shaping up to be a front runner for the league championship. Deangelo Williams was a fantasy God once again to lead the way. Brady Quinn is emerging a solid QB posting a 27 to out duel The Venom’s’ usually lethal signal caller. The Venom turned in a solid game that would have been good enough to beat eight out of the eleven teams, but fell short with the match-up against the striking lightning. After scoring 37 on the bench last week, Watkins put up a goose egg in week five. The stellar play of Bryant and the Fla State Def were a bright spot for the Venom squad. The Lightning improve to 4-1 to put a hold on the A division lead, while the Venom drop to  3-2. With the bonus they remain within striking distance of the C division lead.

DragonFarts @ Stallions ; 88 – 55 Stallions

The Horses were off and running on their way to giving the Farts their first loss of the season. Brad Smith was back in the line-up and produced. The Stallions were consistent top to bottom, getting production from each roster spot. Free-agent pick up Uruttia looks to be a solid addition to the squad. The Stallions improve to 3-2 and remain one game out of the division lead. If not for a half point loss, they would be tied. The Dfarts could not run with the Stallions and drop their first game of the season. The AZ QB was tamed by the Trojans as he threw five picks! The Farts still hold on to the C division lead, and look to rebound as we enter division play.

Elephants @ Contributors ; 85 – 53 Elephants

The Pach are back! The Elephants finally break through to get their first win of the 05 season. Vince Young finally displayed the talent that made the Elephants take him first in the draft. He posted a 27 to lead the Pachyderm scoring.  The Elephants were able to post an 85 despite the zero from Kirkly and 2 from Taylor. The Boston College D and the play of free agent Bowe sealed the win. The Elephants hope this is the turning point and can salvage the season with four games left. The Contributors got terrible play from QB leak posting a dismal minus 2. This is fitting, as Florida was playing Coach Brady’s beloved Tide. Despite the loss, the defending Champs are encouraged by the strong return of Hart and the solid play of TE Marcedes Lewis. The Contributors fall to 2 –3 while the Elephants have a ray of hope at 1 – 4.

Keglers @ Game Cocks ; 93 – 70 Gamers

Like the Elephants, the Game Cocks get their first win with a stellar effort. They were lead by great games from RB White and the emerging star receiver Samardzija. They posted a 27 and 26 to seal the win. The Gamers really looked good posting 93 despite the sub par play of the Pitt D. They hope to capitalize on the momentum the rest of the year. The Keggers had a good game with solid efforts from RB’S Moss and Charles, but were let down by the no show of Whitehead. The Lack of injury info in College strikes again! The Keglers have the firepower to compete with anyone if they can put it all together.

Predators @ Cossacks ; 96 – 44 Cossacks

After posting incredible scores the previous four weeks, the Predators get a Swarzennegger like beating from The Sacks. The Cossacks got solid play from the Col State QB and bruiser RB Michael Bush to post the second best score of the week. They improve to 3 –2 and remain in contention of the C division title. The Predators fell prey to the inconsistency of fantasy ball posting a league low 44. They just could not get anything going, and post their first loss of the season. Despite the low score the Predators are still averaging 108 pts a game, and lead the B division by three points. They hope to regain their explosive firepower entering division play.

RedHawks @ Browns ; 79 – 72 Hawks

The Hawks win despite the stunning disappearance of QB Reggie McNeal. Phenom Reggie Bush picked up the slack posting 24 points. The USC back has become a superstar Fantasy player this year. WR Hicks had another solid game to bring the win home for the Birds. The Hawks improve to 3- 2 and keep the heat on the Predators for the B division lead. After starting the Season with an impressive win in week one scoring 98, the Browns have now dropped four in a row. They got good production out of the Louisville QB and Pitt Receiver Lee, but were let down by the play of Santana Moss and the sub par performance of Peterson. The Oklahoma RB has been somewhat of a disappointment thus far, and things are not looking up as he is battling a high ankle sprain. The Browns are due for a win as their team is too good to continue to lose.

With four games remaining in the season, week six-division play may define the year for many teams. Division play is always more exciting as teams vie for post season berths and a division championship. It should be a great Saturday of College football! Good Luck to all!

I love this Game!
