THE COLLEGE COMPETITOR              Edition 2.4

Week four was explosive yet again with four teams exceeding or near 100Pts! Two remain unbeaten and received a top six for the fourth week in a row. Two teams are watching the 2005 season slip away failing to win yet again. This game can be rough; no amount of preparation can spare you from the unpredictability of College fantasy ball. Here is a recap of week four action.

Lightning @ RedHawks ; 117- 101 Lightning

The Lightning strike again to win an extremely competitive contest. They were once again led by fantasy stud Deangelo Williams. When Williams has room to run he is lethal!  Memphis lost their second QB to a broken leg and now lean on a third stringer. How this effects Williams remains to be seen. The rest of the Lightning squad looked extremely impressive as well. Walker has emerged a very productive fantasy back, and Avant and Hagens are explosive receivers. The Lightning will definitely contend the rest of the year barring injury. The RedHawks lose a heart breaker! Any time you score more then 100, it is painful to lose. Reggie Bush, McNeil, and Wynn had great games. In the end they were let down by the BC RB who posted a zero when the other part of the platoon had a good day. The RedHawks have a solid team and will rebound, ….. what does not kill you makes you stronger! The Lightning now lead the A division, while the Hawks lose ground in the B.

Stallions @ Predators ; 99 – 84 Predators

The Predators do it again! They are on an unprecedented scoring pace averaging a stunning 124 points a game! They had scoring once again at all positions to seal the win. Maroney had a great game, but lost three scores to his Back-up. One of these when he had to leave when his helmet broke, as the trainer was struggling to fix it, a short TD run was lost. Turns out it was not needed as the Predators are perfect improving to 4-0. The Stallions just can’t catch a break losing for the second week in a row while scoring in excess of 80 points. They got stellar play from back up QB Hagens from Virginia, but was ultimately let down by the zero turned in by Solomon. The Stallions have a strong team and hope the bad luck is behind them. They fall to 2-2, but can easily be undefeated. They remain a game back in the A Division.

Contributors @ DragonFarts ; 97 –77 DFarts

The Farts are for real this year! They win their fourth in a row and garner another bonus point. The AZ QB Keller and Henderson lead the way with great games, while Williams continues to produce at receiver. The Dfarts lead the C Division by four points and look to continue the great momentum. Counting last years scrub Bowls, they are on 6 game winning streak! The defending Champ Contributors could not keep pace with the flatulating flying creatures has they come up short by 20. Chris Leak continues to impress, while free agent RB Bell was a welcome addition scoring 14. The Contributors are even on the season, but remain within range of the striking Lightning.

Game Cocks @ Venom ; 72 – 66 Venom

In a game closer then it should have been, the Venom win despite a huge Coaching blunder. Tempted by the sweet match-up of Virginia vs. Duke, the Venom Coach decided to start #1 pick Lundy back from injury at the expense of #3 pick WR Watkins. Trying to play the Match-up game will kill you in College ball as will reading too much on the internet!  Fearing a week one repeat of zero by Watkins, and thinking TCU was solid because of the dominance over Oklahoma, Watkins Sat on Saturday. His Three touchdown 37 point day was wasted! The Venom did just enough to squeak out a win. Hodges of Texas Tech produced as did the free agent  TT D. The Venom still lost a bonus and it may hurt them somewhere down the road. The Game Cocks had a great game from Free Agent Notre Dame Receiver Samardija. He has been playing lights out and the Gamers Coach did well to pick him up. LenDale White resurfaced with a solid game, but in the end zeros by Howling and Bilbo could not be overcome. The Gamers will need some soul searching to turn the season around. The Venom improve to 3-1 to stay on the heels of the Farts, and the Gamers are digging deeper in the A division.

Browns @ Keglers ; 80 –62 Kegs

The Keglers break through to post their first victory of the 2005 season. Zabransky finally arrived and demonstrated his fantasy value with an explosive 30-point game. Coach Jeff made a solid coaching move picking up free-agent Aggie receiver Carter who shined with a solid 24. The Keglers were able to win despite zeros from Daniels and Moss….that shows resiliency! The Brown’s got great games from receivers Lee and Johnson, but could not generate much from the other slots. The Louisville QB posted a surprising 8 points when the team was embarrassed by South Florida. They get Peterson back from the bye and hope to get back in the win column. The Keglers have hope that they have hit a turning point, while the Browns can’t afford to lose any more ground.

Cossacks @ Elephants ; 78 – 43 Sacks

The Cossacks battled adversity to post a solid win. First rounder Lynch was out with an injury, but back up Forsett went off for the second straight week. This was great for the Cossacks, but it may not be beneficial in the long run. Forsett had his chance to shine, and he may be to good to keep off the field. Coach Maze hopes the dreaded “Platoon” does not emerge. Louisville RB Bush had a good game despite the Louisville loss.  Good games by the Colorado St QB and Georgia Defense/Kicker brought the win home. The Sacks miss the bonus by two points, failing to win the all-important point for the fourth week in a row. The Season can still be a success, but they get the Monster squad Predators next. The Elephants just can’t put it together this year despite the hard work of Coach Brady. The Louisville Def scored a minus two to illustrate the Pachyderm struggles. The Pach sure miss Orton and Stubblefield from last years squad! The Elephants will need QB Young to start playing like he did in the Rose Bowl to get some Dubyas this year. Good Luck Tommy!

At half time on Saturday we will be exactly half way through the 2005 Fantasy Season. There is still time for teams to turn the season around, and there is ample time for front runners to lose steam. Good Luck to all the rest of the year!

I love this Game!
