Week #9
The playoff race is on as we have just 4 weeks of regular season play left. This week saw the top two scoring teams end up facing each other as the Dragons defeat the Lemurs 91-85. No other game was decided by less than 10 points, but we did also have a tie for the 8th spot in the bonus win competition.
The Faukers, CRMO, Steamrollers and Dragons lead their respective divisions, with the Steamrollers holding the overall league lead in team points. The wildcard spots are still up for grabs, as no team has been eliminated yet.
Things have been running quite smoothly for the most part in the league, hopefully everyone has the league operation down by now. We have had quite a few mulligans/fines this year, they are all listed on the standings page. We did have a one minor trade in the league this year, quite disappointing as many teams have holes but no deals could be worked out.
Now, lets take a look at the action from week #9:
Lunatics 55 Dynamite 36
Corey's team gets the much needed win as
they try to get back into the playoff race. Owens has been solid for weeks now,
and this week he had a team high 15. I still think that the pen in the sock
routine was pretty cool, maybe we can have a sidepot for most creative end zone
celebration next year, that would have won this year for sure! Larry's team gets
the loss as his team had only their defense and kicker score more than 6. Moss
continues to be MIA this year, really disappointing Larry as he thought his
first round pick would at least be a top 5 WR.
Faukers 55 Razor Clams 39
Troy/Trent get the win as they have the A
Division lead and a red hot Marshall that could prove to be a tough battle to
overcome for opponents. Gannon had an off week with just 5, but Conway remains
solid wit 12. Ron gets a nice 16 from Smith at WR, but he started Horn on a bye,
and also got duplicate -1 point games from QB Vick and Oakland Def. The Clams
have shown flashes of brilliance, but need to get back on track as the
competition will be tough down the finish.
Chieftains 68 Death 50
Harry has a good week as he gets a win and
Bennett breaks free for a 85yd TD run and a new league high for the sidepot.
Street continues to score as he had 12 as they get a key division win.
Steve/Jeff suffer the loss as they try to bring the Death back from the dead and
into the playoff race. A win this week, and they were back in the thick of
things, but a rather ordinary week from Bledsoe and George was not enough.
CRMO
69 Uhl's 50
JR's team gets the win thanks to a big week
from Brady with his league high 29 point week. The CRMO also got solid games
from RB's Tomlinson and Thomas as they sit a top the B Division. Kevin returns
to the controls of the Uhl's, but the team could not get a win as the had two
zero point games and just 8 points from their WR's. The Uhl's have a tough
battle ahead, but a win this week and they are right back into the playoff race.
Steamrollers 67 Double Stuffed 57
In a battle for supremacy of the C Division,
Al/Boyd get the win over a Priestless Stuffed team. Tiki ran wild on Sunday
night as he led the team with 24. Collins filled in admirably for Griese with 10
as the 'Rollers have the league high team point total with 22. Fran/Billy suffer
another loss as their team has sputtered a bit of late after a great start. No
Priest this week, and McNabb was average and no one else but Morgan provided
much help. No time to dwell on the recent losses for Fran/Billy, as they have a
wildcard spot in hand but still have their sights set on the top spot in the
division.
Connection 71 Bombers 47
Chris/Scott get a win as their team has
rebounded nicely from a rough start. Manning was the team leader with 16, while
Ward chipped in 15 and Amos had 11. McAllister is back this week for the
team, so the climb back from the rough start just may be the start of something
special for the team. Bill/John suffer a key division game loss as they drop to
3-6. Dante is human this year, and an injured James is definitely not helping
matters.
Dragons 91 Lemurs 85
In the game of the week, Steve/Marvin get
the win as their Dragons have just enough to overcome the Lemurs. Green was the
top guys for the Dragons with 22, as everyone but the Dragons WR's scored 10+.
Ray/Jeff suffer a tough loss, as their 2nd high score in the league was not
enough. Smith finally broke out with a 29 point game, and the Lemurs WR's remain
tough as Harrison/Price had 19/15. Great game from these two teams, as maybe we
now know who will be the teams to beat in the lowly D Division.
Starfish 46 Maulers 21
Brian/Brian get a win, despite their lack of
scoring yet again. Keyshawn had a great week with 24, which was more than enough
to beat the Maulers all by himself. The Starfish do get Brooks back, so if
Keyshawn can keep it up ( a BIG if) maybe the team will also make a run at the D
Division title. Brian's team continues to struggle as remarkably his kicker was
the only player to score more than 3. Ouch!!
