Week #5

The Dynamite were the top team this week, as the posted a league high 107. The Steamrollers keep rolling as they have a nice 92 point week to move to 4-1. The Faukers, Double Stuffed, and CRMO also advance to 4-1 with solid wins this week. The Razor Clams get a win thanks to a break on a little over coaching by the winless Death. The Bombers have little trouble with the MASH unit known as the Maulers, while the Connection make it two in a row with a solid win over the Lemurs.

The league is finally settling down after a rocky start, and the score reporting was very good this week. Thanks to everyone for picking up the system. We did have one team forget to send lineup changes, so just a reminder that you lineup will be the same as the previous week if you do not send any lineup changes.

We are still looking for our first trade of the year. And we are also looking for our first spirited discussion of the league on the message board. Maybe things will change, take a moment and check out the league message board, maybe a few trades can be discussed there as well.

I hope everyone has figured out the website and how the league works, it seems to be much better as I indicated before. If you still have any questions or even comments on the website, please let me know.

Now, lets take a look at the action from week #5:

Dynamite 107    Chieftains 73
Good buddies Larry & Harry faced off, and it was a solid week for both, but Larry's team had the best scoring week in the league as the take the game. The Dynamite got solid weeks from a host of players, led by Patten's 23, Denver Def with 20, and Green/Driver with 17 apiece. Larry gets Moss back this week, drug test pending, and has Hearst sitting on the bench to take over for Staley who is on a bye. Harry gets a big MNF game from Favre, but an off week for Ricky, combine with just 3 points from his TE, K and Def spelled trouble for the Chieftains. That is two losses in a row for Harry, and with the impressive Steamrollers next up, the team needs to turn it up a notch.

CRMO 78    Lunatics 59
JR's team continues to play well, as they turn back the Lunatics. CRMO overcame a rough week for their RB's, as Tomlinson struggled a bit and couldn't find the end zone, while Thomas couldn't find anything as he posted a zero point game. No time to let up for JR as the Double Stuffed are next on the schedule, a crucial matchup for both of the 4-1 teams. Corey's team didn't have anyone other than Davis score double digits as they fall to 1-4. Davis did manage 17 but got banged up pretty good along the way. Owens still hasn't played up to par, something the Lunatics need to get back into the race.

Faukers 82    Uhl's 57
Trent/Troy get a good week from their team, as the Faukers post the 3rd high score in the league along with a win to move to 4-1 and a top 8 finish in all five weeks. Gannon remains solid, as he keeps throwing and throwing his way to 30 points. Marshal had a respectable 9 point week, but has been a major disappointment so far. When he finally turns it on, and we all know he will, the Faukers will be tough to beat. Kevin got a solid week finally from Garcia with 16, but a bad week for the Tenn. Def with -2, coupled with Ismail and Smith dropping way off from their recent norms was to much to overcome.

Razor Clams 60    Death 56
Ron gets a win to move to 3-2, despite losing QB Vick to injury and getting 0 points. Thanks for the win has to go to new owners Jeff/Steve for making the late decision to go with Carolina Def instead of Miami, giving the Clams the 4 point win. The Clams were led by Henry's 14. The Death remain winless as they could have begun the long road back to respectability. The Def change hurt, as did a 0 point game from WR Gadsden. No where to go up for the Death!

Steamrollers 92    Dragons 76
Al/Boyd finally get Dillon on track as he leads the team with 27 and help the 'Rollers move to 4-1. Griese had a solid week with 17, while K Carney was the leagues top performer with 19. Steve's Dragons had a top 8 week, but couldn't get the win in a high scoring affair. Garner was huge with 28 to lead the Dragons. Gonzo came back to earth with 4 after his banner performance last week, and the K/Def positions didn't produce a whole lot to hurt the Dragons chance for a win. Good news though for the Dragons, their 2-3 record with 3 top 8 finishes is enough to lead the D Division.

Double Stuffed 80    Starfish 57
Fran/Billy get another solid week from Holmes as they move to 4-1 and stay a point ahead of the Steamrollers in the C Division. Priest remains this years top performer so far, as he had 31 this week. McNabb had a nice 18 point game, while Easy Ed had a long TD catch to help with 17. The Stuffed remain a top contender, but will be pushed this coming week by CRMO, and will not have Donovan who is on a bye week. The 'Fish drop to 2-3 thanks to the loss, but Brian/Brian can take a little solace in the fact that so is every other team in their division. Keyshawn finally backed up his talk with a nice 19 point effort, but no other 'Fish offensive player had double digits leaving them a little short in this game.

Bombers 68    Maulers 25
Bill/John get the win in a lopsided game over the injury riddled Maulers. James and Lewis were solid at RB, scoring 11 & 12. Bye week QB Miller had a nice game with 14, more than enough for the win. Brian's team had a league high 5 players on the IR going into Sunday, so it was no surprise that they struggled to score points. McNair had a respectable 14, but no other player on the team scored more than 6. The Maulers do reside in the D Division, so they are not in that bad of shape if they can get healthy in a hurry.

Connection 79    Lemurs 38
Chris/Scott make it two in a row as they easily turn back the Lemurs. McAllister and Manning combined for 40, enough for the win by themselves. That could b a lethal 1-2 punch as we move along the season. Ray/Jeff forgot to send in lineup changes and left Harrison and his big game on the bench, but it still would not have been enough for a win.10 points from their starting QB & 2 RB's was a back breaker for the team.
