Week #2
Two weeks in the books, and 4 unbeaten teams remain. The scores remained quite high, as many NFL teams have abandoned the defense wins system, and adapted the outscoring your opponent at all cost approach.
The lineups and score reporting was a little better in week two, although I had several teams not report scores at all. Two of the most common scoring errors was not recording fumbles, and not factoring in defensive TD's for an opposing team of your defense. Remember, that is the team your defense is playing scores a defensive TD, it does not count against your defense as they were not on the field when it occurred.
The CRMO team was the tops in the league this week with a big 112 point week. The Faukers posted a solid 97 point week for 2nd place, while the Lemurs also cracked the 90 point mark as well.
I will be sending out an e-mail to the league to further explain some of the sidepot rules, weekly points bonus pool, as well as some other rules questions that have arisen in the past two weeks. Things are going much more smoothly, but still seems that some of the new owners to my leagues are a little confused at times.
There is a league message board on the website, if you haven't checked it please do so. Most of the trash talking has been from the College League and the other NFL league so far. It can be a fun an exciting part of the league if many teams actively participate.
Now, lets take a look at the action from week #2:
Lunatics 58 Dynamite 58
The closest game of the week (uh, no duh!)
as Corey and Larry ended up in a tie at 58, and Corey's Lunatics win on the
tiebreaker as the home team. Corey's team got a nice 19 point game from RB
Jones, probably beating his entire career fantasy point total in one week! Jake
the Weasel was no help at QB, a spot Corey is looking to shore up this coming
week. Hard to believe Jake will ever turn it around in his inconsistent at best
career, but Corey gave him 2 weeks to prove it. Larry suffers the tough loss, as
he could only get one player into double digits. Moss was solid with 17 to lead
the Dynamite. McNair and Hearst had tough weeks, and either one could have
easily got the needed additional point. If Moss continues to perform and gets
any help, happier days are just around the corner for Larry.
Faukers 97 Razor Clams 53
Trent/Troy get a nice week from their team,
as they easily defeat the Clams. Faulk and Conway each went for 20+, and had
help from Thrash with 15 and Gannon with 13. I think Gannon is still throwing
passes against the Steelers as I type! The Faukers are 2-0 with 2 straight top 8
finishes, and with Marshal being his usual self along with a solid supporting
cast, things look very promising for Troy & Trent. Ron's Razor Clams get a solid
week from Smith with 14, but week one star Henry posted a zero and that hurt any
chance they had of being competitive this week. First round pick Alexander is
still trying to find his stride, and will need to turn it up a few notches
before long to help the Clams have a more consistent effort.
Chieftains 83 Nowledge 72
Harry's team follows up last weeks 100 point
week with another strong performance as they beat Ernie's Nowledge team. Rickey
looks great for the Chieftains as he had 16, and the New England Def was their
top performer with 28. Ernie's team has played well both weeks of the young
season, getting a top 8 finish both weeks, but the Nowledge are still looking
for their first win with yet a second tough loss. Bledsoe went off for 25 this
week, and fellow Bill Hollis had a nice 21 point game. Ernie has to be
reasonable happy with his team as he has depth and is scoring, the wins can't be
far away.
CRMO
112 Uhl's 78
In the highest scoring game of the week,
JR's team gets the win as they post a league high 112 points. JR's team had a
balanced attack, led by Tampa Bay's huge 35 point game. Brady continues to shine
with a 16 point game, and Glenn chipped in 15 to help the cause. Scary thing for
JR is his team scored 112, and top pick Tomlinson only scored 4. Kevin's team
had a top 8 week, but ran into a tough opponent as the Uhl's suffer their second
straight loss. RB Smith led the team with 20, but a -1 point game from their
J-e-t-s defense was hard to overcome when your opponent's defense goes off for
35. A nice scoring week for Kevin, but a 0-2 start none the less.
Double
Stuffed 63 Steamrollers 38
Fran/Billy get a win over the Steamrollers,
but can't crack the top 8 with a 63 point week. The Stuffed were led by McNabb's
24 point game, as they overcame two zeros and a -1 from their WR's. Priest only
managed 8 points this week after his banner week one, but the team still had
enough to win at that is what it is all about. Boyd and Al suffer a bad week, as
Dillon was the only 'Rollers player to go for double digits. One point from
their WR's was costly, but Boyd/Al will be back before long as they have a
pretty solid lineup.
Bombers 71 Connection 54
Bill/John get a solid week from their team,
as the Bombers defeat the Connection rather easily. Revenge is so sweet for the
Bombers, as they pay back the Connection for the recent baseball finals defeat.
The Bombers got a nice 19 point game from Dante, and James was looking good in
his return from injury as he posted a 14 point game. The Bombers lineup is
pretty tough, although the Green Bay Def has to concern Bill/John a bit, as they
have been lit up both weeks so far this year. The Connection drop to 0-2, a spot
Chris/Scott found themselves in in baseball before they turned it up about 10
notches. Chris is busy preparing for a new baby (best wishes!) and Scott may
still be drunk from the baseball celebration, and the team is struggling a bit
these days to cap it off. Ward was solid with 21, and McAllister looks like the
real deal as he had 17. Unfortunately for the Connection, no other player had
more than 6. Time to get back on track Chris/Scott!
Lemurs
90 Dragons 68
Ray/Jeff get a good week from their team, as
they handle the Dragons who also were a top 8 team. Taylor and Harrison both had
19 for the Lemurs, and Dante added 12 to help the team get the needed points.
Heck, the Lemurs even had Price on the bench with 30, or things could have
really been great for the team this week. Steve/Marvin had a top 8 scoring week,
but the Dragons are now 0-2. Garner led the Dragons with 17, and Akers kicked in
16. Morgan followed up a great week one with a zero this week, a crushing blow
to the Dragons chances this week.
Maulers 45 Starfish 27
The yawner of the week, as the battle of the
Brian's turned into a sleeper as Moby's Maulers win 45-27. I was going to type
something entertaining about this game, but
I.....can't......seem.....to............keep....... my.... eyes..... open......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
