Week #1

Welcome to the UAL NFL II League!

Each week I will have a weekly report here on the website that will look at the results from the past week. I hope everyone has found their way around the website okay, and are getting a handle on how things work. If you ever have any questions, please let me know!

We had some problems in week one, mostly with the scores reporting. Hopefully I have addressed those problems, so we can have a smoother week two. All in all, it wasn't that bad though. Just keep in mind the deadlines, and we should have no problems, hopefully!

Week one saw the Chieftains jump out in front of the pack with an impressive 100 point game. That may be a tough game to beat for the sidepot. The cutoff for a top 8 finish was 67, which is also a very high number. The Razor Clams posted a 94 point game, which is also a impressive score.

There is a league message board on the website, if you haven't checked it please do so. It can be a fun addition to the league as trash talking is highly encouraged!

At the bottom after the game reviews, is weekly awards and a week #2 preview.

Now, lets take a look at the action from week #1:

Dynamite 84    Nowledge 70
Larry's team has a solid week as they get a top 8 finish and a win in week one. The Dynamite had a balanced attack, led by McNair's 15 point game. Moss had a solid 13 point game as Randy looks to have a big year. Ernie's Nowledge had a top 8 score of 70, but couldn't get the win this week. Eddie G. had a solid 20 point game as he looks to return to the 2000 form that was so good. Curtis Martin left the game with an injury, which was costly to Ernie. The WR's are a little weak for the Nowledge, but sub Garner actually had the best game of the week, so the Nowledge may be in the market for an early season trade.

Chieftains 100    Lunatics 73
Harry's team cracks the century mark in week one, an impressive start to the season. Every player but 2 had 10+ points, led by Booker's 21. Favre, Williams and Booker may be a threesome that could be huge each week. Corey's Lunatics had a solid week one, but ran into a tough opponent that put up 100 on them. In most weeks, 73 points will be good enough to win, so things aren't all bad for Corey. Factor in that stud WR Owens had an off week, and things do look promising for the Lunatics. Davis and Moulds led the team with 17 each.

Faukers 71    CRMO 67
Trent/Troy ride the back of stud RB Faulk as they get a win in a relatively close game with CRMO. Although Marshal couldn't get many rushing yards, his 14 receptions were huge for the team. The WR's came through with scores of 8-7-11 to help lead the way. JR's team had a bunch of big games, but not enough balance to get a win. Brady was the leader with 20, while Tomlinson added 15. Five points from his two WR's was the downfall of JR and his CRMO team in week one.

Razor Clams 94        Uhl's 60
Ron's Razor Clams post the second high score in the league as the thrash the Uhl's by 34. Henry was the main man with 30, while Vick scrambled his way to 16. If not for a 1 point game from the Clams TE and 3 point game from the normally reliable Chicago Def, Ron may have broke the 100 point barrier in week one as well. Kevin's team could only manage 10 points combined from their QB, #1 RB, and #1 WR. This will not win many games. Ismail was solid with 19, but no other offensive player scored more than 6. Time to regroup for Kevin and hope that Garcia returns to form in week two.

Steamrollers 61    Lemurs 52
In the lowest scoring game of the week, Boyd/Al get the win over Ray/Jeff's Lemurs tam. The 'Rollers were led by Tiki's 11 and Griese's 10. How long before
Beuerlein is leading the 'Rollers as well as the Donkey's is the burning question right now. The Lemurs had a solid week from Taylor with 14, but RB Smith was no where to be found as the Patriots went with the pass all night long on Monday night. Harrison was his normal self with 8, but will have to pick up some slack for a the rest of the thin WR corps.

Double Stuffed 77    Dragons 51
Billy/Fran have a solid week, as their team post a nice 77 points and gets a solid win over the Dragons. Priest Holmes was the man for the Dbl. Stuffed, as well as the league leader with a monster 40 point game. the rest of the team was pretty average, but they didn't need much more thanks to Priest. Steve/Marvin post the league low point total with 51. The Dragons had a solid game from Green with 12 and Johnson with 11, and of course old reliable TE Gonzalez with a team high 15. Two gooseggs from their WR's was the downfall of the team in week one.

Starfish 60    Bombers 56
In the closest game of the week, Brian/Brian get the 4 point win over the Bombers. The starfish were led by Boston's 18, and TE McMichael came from nowhere to score 14. Bill/John's Bombers were led by Johnson's 14 (including a TD throw from their stud WR) and got a respectable 12 from Dante, but it just wasn't enough for the win. The MASH unit in the backfield looked like they are somewhat healthy, but James & Lewis may take a few weeks to regain their old form which could really spell trouble for opponents if this happens real soon.

Maulers 66    Connection 62
In another close game, Brian's Maulers get a 4 point win over Scott/Chris' Connection. A 17 point game from Dunn led the way, as the Bus couldn't even stay on the positive side. Warner had an off week, something Brian doesn't want to read to many more times. Scott/Chris are still basking in the glory of their second consecutive baseball championship, but couldn't continue the winning streak as they lose by 4. Gardner had a nice 18 point game, while Manning was his usual self with 14. This could be a nice combo to help the Connection go for yet another fantasy league championship.
