Week #6
Week #6 was a closely contested week, as we had four teams score 65 points and tie for spots 6-9 in the top 8 finish. All four teams received the bonus win, as no team in the league scored over 80 this week. After the frantic pace of the early season, it was quite a drastic change.
Add to it that the Death actually won their first game of the year, it really was a strange week. The Faukers/CRMO/Double Stuffed are leading their respective divisions and looking like the teams to beat. The Steamrollers are right up there at 5-1, but a point behind in the C Division. The Dynamite and Razor Clams are at 4-2 in a close A Division race with the Faukers. The Dragons have the D Division lead, but almost by default as they are just 3-3 in the weakest division so far.
Week #7 is division games, so they will be important games for many teams that are looking to get back into the race. Some teams really are facing big games or else they will fall into a hole that may tough to get out of.
Now, lets take a look at the action from week #6:
Dynamite 59 Maulers 54
Larry's team gets a win in a close game with
the Maulers. Green was solid at QB with 14, and bye week TE Ricks also had 14 as
the Dynamite escape with a win. Larry missed out on the top 8, and sit 2 points
back of the Faukers in the A Division. Brian's Maulers finally get a solid game
from the Bus, but still fell a little short. Bettis had 19, but the rest of the
RB/WR's combined for just 1 point, and that was the deciding factor in this
game.
Lunatics 78 Lemurs 44
Corey's team gets back on the winning track
as the easily defeat the Lemurs. The Lunatics managed the top score in the
league with 78, something pretty amazing considering they got 0 points from
their QB Brunell. Owens signed off on the team high score with 20. Come on, you
got to give TO a little credit for creativity on his end zone celebration!
Ray/Jeff suffer a loss as they drop to 2-4, but in the D Division they are just
one good week from stepping up. Price/Harrison are a tough WR combo, leading the
team with 17/13. No other player on the Lemurs scored double digits, and that
was their downfall.
Dragons 76 Faukers 75
In a close game, the Dragons get a 1 point
win over the Faukers. These two teams posted the 3rd and 4th high scores in the
league, so it was a tough loss for the Faukers. Steve gets a nice 21 point game
from Green, finally! Pitt Def was the league leaders this week and crucial for
the Dragons as they get the narrow win. Troy/Trent suffer a tough loss, as they
couldn't find the 1 additional point needed for the win. Faulk had 17 and
Vanderjagt had a nice 22 point game for the Faukers.
Razor
Clams 77 Starfish 53
Ron gets a solid win and the 2nd high score
in the league this week from his Razor Clams. Henry was tough with 21, while
Ramsey overcame some early INT's to post a respectable 14. The Clams are in a
tight division race in the A Division, and next weeks division games will be a
big test for the team. The Starfish drop to 2-4, as most of their fellow D
Division teams are. Brooks had 13 to lead the team, but was the only offensive
player to score 10+.
Death
65 Connection 53
Jeff/Steve finally get their first win of
the year, as the Death turn back the Connection and also get a top 8 finish.
George finally broke loose for 20 points, and Bledsoe had his usual solid game.
The division game next week may be what the Death need to get back in the race.
Chris/Scott suffer the loss, as Deuce had an off week and the rest of the team
didn't step up. The Connection have fallen behind in the C Division, but a
division game win could go a long way to helping turn it around.
Steamrollers 65 Chieftains 43
Al/Boyd post the first of four 65 point team
totals, as their team gets a win to move to 5-1. Nothing real fancy for the
'Rollers this week, as Carney led the team with 14 and Burress was the lone
offensive performer to score 10 or more. The 'Rollers only had Heap score less
that 6, and he had 4. That is balance! Harry's team is stumbling along after a
fast start to the season. Favre and Williams had solid weeks, but a couple off 0
point games from their WR's proved to be to much to overcome.
Double
Stuffed 70 CRMO 50
In a battle of two early season
heavyweights, Fran/Billy get the knockout over JR's CRMO team. Holmes leads the
offense once again with 17, Elam goes FG happy on MNF to post a big 24 point
game. The Stuffed are tied with the Faukers with 14 team points, and they sure
stepped up to the challenge this week against a worthy competitor. JR's team got
another nice game from Tomlinson, but Brady is regressing rather quickly as he
had just 1 point this week. No time to let up for JR, as a big game with Harry's
Chieftains is up next.
Uhl's 65 Bombers 65
In our first tie game of the year, Kevin's
team gets the win on the home field advantage tie-breaker. The Uhl's get solid
games from Garcia with 12, and the ageless wonder Rice with 10. Bill/John suffer
a tough loss as they are on the wrong end of the tie-breaker. Dante finally
broke out with a league high 26, and Lewis had the 2nd best performance of the
week in the league with 23. Problem for the Bombers was two 0 point games from
the WR's along with a 0 point game from TE Brady and the Bombers fall short.
What could have been if any of those 0 point games were to get a single point.
