As I write this, Southern California wild fires are still burning.
I work in San Diego, and drive by areas that have been destroyed. Over 1000
people have lost their homes, and many are still laid up at Qualcomm Stadium. It
is in times like these that we all must look around and appreciate what we have.
It all can be taken with a gust of wind and fire so easily. As this fantasy
season comes to a close, it is important to take inventory of our lives, our
possessions, and our Families.
It has been a great College year; The scoring has been extraordinary. As we enter the final week of the regular season, the playoff field is in focus. There are some critical games on tap in week nine that should cap an exciting year. The A division and C Division Championships will be decided; One team will miss out on a bye, and one team will miss out on the post season altogether.
The Game Cocks and Cossacks square off with the A Division title and a bye week at stake. Each is assured a play-off berth, but the bye week in the post season is priceless. Each has their team MVP off in week one, so the bye is even more valuable. The Gamers lose Brennan, and the Sacks will be without Slaton. The final game of the season may very well determine who wins the Championship.
The DragonFarts have clinched the B Division Championship and a first round bye with an excellent year. They still have high points and the league scoring average to play for. The Shamrox have clinched a Play-off berth, and are playing for seeding.
The Venom have the final seed in hand, and can only lose it with a total scoring collapse. The Spartans will need a win with a top six, and hope for a Venom collapse. If the Venom lose and fail to make a top six, the tie breaker will be total points scored. The Venom have a 62 point edge, but can still miss the post season on a long shot.
In the C Division, another crucial game is on Tap. Going into the final game of the season, the Elephants have a chance to win the C Division title and make the playoffs. To do this, they have to beat the Stallions and earn a top six bonus point. Even if they accomplish this, they can still lose out. The Stallions are essentially playing against six teams. If they earn a top six bonus, they win the C Division title and advance to the playoffs as a three seed. If they lose, fail to get a top six while the Elephants win with the Bonus, the Stallions season will meet a tragic end….. It should be interesting!!!!!
I would be remiss if I did not mention the plight of the Predators. They have a 2- 6 record despite having a 97.6 scoring average. Their scored against average is a whopping 104 points! The Predators have lost many games while scoring over 100 points. This is the cruel side of Fantasy Sports, if the match-ups are off the best teams will lose.
Here is the play-off picture going into the final week;
