Week #5

Week #5 and the contending teams continue to pile up the wins, while several crafty fantasy veterans are still looking for their first win of the year. The Elephants post yet another 100 point week, only to be beaten by a record setting performance for the week's top score. With only 3 weeks left in the regular season, many playoff spots and division titles are still yet to be decided. On to the week #4 results:

Elephants 100    Contributors 20
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly about sums up this match up. GOOD: Mr. Tom Brady and his rumbling Elephants keep on putting up the points. The Elephants get 59 points from the Florida QB/Jaffney combo, and this is about normal for these two studs. Mr. Tom Brady is sitting a top the A Division 3 points ahead of the rejuvenated Christians, so no time for the Elephants to let off the gas as we head down the stretch run. If the terrific twosome keeps putting up the numbers for the Elephants, this team will be hard to beat. BAD: McSwain's Contributors are still looking for their first win of the year, but the team sank to a new low this week. McSwain keeps shuffling the roster looking for the right mix, but an 80 point loss is just to much for even a fantasy veteran like McSwain to try and come to grips with. Keep the faith John! UGLY: 20 points scored by the Contributors is the new low points scored in the league this year.

Christians 80    Stingrays 50
Rusch's team follows up his two consecutive 100+ point weeks with another solid week, and the win streak is now at 3 for the Christians. Nebraska QB continues to put up the numbers with 29 this week to lead the way for the Christians. Rusch has a big match up next week with the undefeated Cows, that could be the make or break week for the Christians. The losses continue to mount for Merv and his Stingrays, as the team remains the only team without a single point this year. Coupled with a 0-4 start in the NFL league, Merv is as frustrated as he has ever been in fantasy sports before. Merv is trying to petition the Commish to run a fantasy playoff baseball league so he once again prove he is a quality fantasy coach. No need to prove it to me, your teams have spanked my teams enough times over the years to remove any doubt on my end! One suggestion though for the Stingrays, start Clemson QB this week!!!! :>)

Maulers 68    Pride 58
Mike's Maulers get the win in a crucial B Division game over the Pride. The Maulers have struggled to score points in recent weeks, but this week they put up just enough to get the win and the top 6 finish. Mike's team finally got a good week from Bryant and the Nebraska D keeps putting up double digit efforts each week. The Maulers have 3 point lead in the B Division, and have the winless Stingrays on the schedule next week. Could Dad actually find a way to pull off the upset and really throw a monkey wrench into the son's plans? Should be interesting! Larry/Harry get a so so week from their team, and lose a crucial division game and slip behind in the playoff race. Brunnell continues to prove a worthy replacement for top pick Suggs, but the rest of the team failed to break double digits. The Pride face the Cossacks next week, who are putting up points each week, so the team needs a solid week or the may fall out of playoff contention.

Death 66    Redhawks 24
The Commish and his Death team get another win, making that 4-1 for the Death team, over the Redhawks, who despite the return of Coach Hawk to the sidelines barely put up a fight. The Death team is finding ways to win, but can this team really be taken seriously as a playoff contender? When your RB/WR go 2-0-0-2 that hardly puts fear in any of the top teams in the league. The Death did get a big game from Oregon QB with their 38 point effort, but top pick Simonton continues to disappoint. Next week the Death face a snake bitten Titans team who is looking to finally catch a break. The Death team must finad a way to keep getting the wins, but also crack the top 6, something they have only done one time all year. Carey finally resurfaces but his Redhawk team gets 7 points from Thunder Collins, which was the top score for the team this week. OUCH! Lucky for the 'Hawks, the Contributors found a way to score even less, or the season's worse weekly performance was all theirs. Things don't get any easier for Carey, as his team faces Mr. Tom Brady and his Elephants next week. Could it be two 80 point wins in a row for the Elephants?????

Cows 106    Titans 68
Driver's Cows plow through the Titans this week, in a game that was pretty much over on Friday night. Driver put to rest any doubts about why Staley was their first round pick, as Staley goes off for a new league high 50 point performance on Friday night. Add on a 23 point week by Stephens, and the Titans were done. The Cows remain the only undefeated team in the league, but they can't seem to shake the Q-Dogs, with whom they are still in a tie with for the C Division lead. Not a good college season for the Myers family, unless your name is Mike. On a positive note, Jeff has one more win that Dad, but Jeff feels the same frustration as Dad, as teams are scoring at a 95.2 point rate against the Titans. That is a scary stat!!!!

Q-Dogs 87    Cossacks 75
In the game of the week, two heavyweights slugged it out and the Q-Dogs are left standing in the end with a convincing win over the Cossacks. The Al & Russ show started the week with their normal disagreement on who to start, and Russ had his war of words with Maze on the message board, and the Q-Dogs walk away with the win. Some things never change! As long as Al & Russ don't agree on who to play, the team always seems to play their best. The Q-Dogs remain in a tie for the top team points overall, and look to a long playoff run with the talent the team has put together. Maze suffers yet another tough loss with his Cossacks. The Cossacks have 4 top 6 finishes in 5 weeks, but now have a 2-3 record. Maze continues to get big weeks from his players, this week it was BYU QB with 23 and Burns with 25. A bad 2 point week from his defense was the crushing blow this week for the Cossacks. On a positive note for Maze, he plays the lowly Contributors this week. Now if McSwain can pull off the upset, I fully expect Maze's head to exploded! :>)
