Week #2

Week #2 is in the books, but unfortunately week #3 has been put on hold. The past week has been a tough week for everyone in this great country of ours, and especially for all UAL employees. Not playing football this week was by far the best decision the NCAA could have made. While I will miss the regular weekend life we have all become so accustomed to, watching college football on Saturday and then the NFL on Sunday, life has changed for us all, and I hope that in a few weeks we can all get back to the way things use to be. Somehow, I fear that the life we use live and all to often took for granted, has been taken away from us by the cowards that perpetrated this horrible attack. Let us look at the results from week #2, and then enjoy the time off this week to reflect upon the horrific events that have transpired this past week.

Cows 81    Contributors 49
Tom gets a big week from his wishbone RB's, with scores of 26-16-12, which was enough to turn back John's Contributors. The Cows are now 2-0 and also got the bonus point this week, which is good enough to have the early lead in the C Division. John's team suffers the loss this week as their number one pick Texas QB had a bad week, posting just 6 points. John has been trying to move WR Milons, who responded with a a nice fat zero for the week. That is sure not going to help his trade value.

Cossacks 82    Christians 44
Maze gets his first win of the year with a thorough trouncing of the Christians. A huge week by backup QB BYU leads the way for the Cossacks, and the 42 points scored by BYU is the early season leader in the high game sidepot. Highly regarded WR Bell was released this week by Maze, so all is not well in the Ukraine, but the Cossacks have the talent to be a competitor all year, something we are all rooting for. (chuckle among yourselves) Rusch's team struggles to score points again this week, as Dave is wondering what the heck happened to top draft pick Nebraska QB? A 4 point week is not going to cut it, and the rest of the Christians didn't do a heck of a lot to help pick up the slack. An 0-2 start is not what Dave had in mind, he needs to inspire his Christians or the season may be slipping away already.

Elephants 132    Pride 81
Tom gets his Elephants their first win of the year, and in a huge fashion. The Elephants put up a stunning 132 points for the week, only to see another team put up a 133 points for the week. To put this in perspective, the side pot for high team game last year was won with 114 points. Hmmm, I dare to compare Tom to Sammy Sosa, but maybe now Tom understands what Sammy was feeling when he shattered the HR record with 66 a few years back, only to finish 2nd to Big Mac's 70 HR. Miami Def 39, Florida QB 25, Gaffney 22, Howry 18 and so on........an impressive week to say the least. Maybe the Elephants took the underdog role a little personally! Larry and Harry put up a top 6 finish score of 81, but still lost by 50+. That is just bad luck anyway you look at it, and when we resume the games the Pride have a crucial match up with the revitalized Death team in the first division match ups of the year. The Pride are scanning the waiver wires for a defense, that may be the deciding factor where this team goes from here on out.

Death 77    Stingrays 62
The Commish gets his first two game win streak of his college football career, and even doubles last years win total with a win over the Stingrays. The Death's top 2 picks performed well this week, and their defense had a solid 22 point game to lead the way. The down side for the Commish, is at 2-0 the team has yet to crack the top 6 this year. Hey, baby steps....baby steps.....baby steps! Merv's Stingrays drop to 0-2 on the year, a position not to familiar to Merv. The Stingrays have some solid players, but Merv's confidence in his team is not real high right now, which means it will be Merv's knack for finding the diamond in the rough of free agents, that may determine whether the 'Rays can turn this season around.

Maulers 133    Titans 57
OUCH! Mike was not to nice to brother Jeff this week, refusing to pull his starters even though the game was already way out of hand. Mike's reward for this was setting a new league high, beating the Elephants total for the week by one point. Georgia Tech QB goes for 34, Toefield goes for 37 and the rest of the team was quite impressive as well. The Maulers are the only team with 2 wins and 2 top 6 finishes, that makes them the top team in the league after week #2. Jeff's Titans gave a performance not worth remembering. Jeff will remember for quite some time the fact that brother Mike ran it up on him. "Paybacks are hell" Jeff was heard mumbling as he left the field with his team.

Redhawks 99    Q-Dogs 86
As Chris Berman says, "that is why you play the games". In a match up of the top team vs the worst team from week one, things did not go according to plan for the Q-Dogs. Al is left scratching his head wondering what got into the Redhawks this week. Carey's team was lead by a 31 point game from their defense, along with a 26 point game from their QB. Those two combined for more points than the 'Hawks scored as a team in week #1. The Q-Dogs put up 86 points, which was good for fourth overall, but a 0 point game from their QB lead to this disappointing loss for Al. The upside for Al is that if his team keeps scoring at their current 94/week clip, Al will take his usual spot in the playoffs.
