Week #3

After a one week hiatus, college football is back. Week #3 saw the sports world returning to action after a week of reflecting and mourning the tragic events that transpired on Sept. 11th. We are approaching the mid point of the college fantasy season, and several teams have made a move to pull ahead of their respective divisions, while others are searching for their first win. Week #3 was a tough week for many, as this week saw many top teams on bye weeks. Lets take a look at how things shaped up in week #3........

Christians 123    Contributors 58
Mr. Rusch did inspire his Christians this week and his team rewards him with their first win of the year, and in mighty big fashion over the Contributors. Dave's team was lead by Nebraska QB, who shook off a few bad weeks to post 35 points. RB Brown of CU also had a solid week with 22 to lead the Christian RB's who combined for 53 points. The win and bonus point move the Christians into 2nd place in the A Division, but still 4 points behind the division leader. McSwain's team continues their struggles and can't seem to find the right mix to score enough points to get the first win of the year for the Contributors. On a positive note....(hey, John will take any positive he can get right now!).....the Texas QB threw a 92 yard TD, which has a solid chance of holding on to the sidepot the rest of the way.

Elephants 103    Stingrays 50
Tom Brady gets another convincing win from his Elephants as the double up the hapless Stingrays. We would like to thank Tom for gracing us with his presence as he departs for Foxboro to take over the QB duties for the banged up Drew Bledsoe..........oh sorry, wrong Tom Brady! Welcome back Tom, it was if you were never gone! Tom gets another big week from Florida QB and Florida WR Gaffney. Boy, Tom better hope Coach Spurrier doesn't decide to go with a running game one of these days or his Elephants are done! Merv is in a very unfamiliar position these days, 0-3 looking up at every other team in the league at this point. Hmmmmm, lets see who was not at the draft in person.......Merv and John......hmmmm, who are the only two winless teams still left in the league......there you go Merv and John. Things can only get better for the once powerful Stingrays team, I am betting Merv finds the way into the win column this week.

Pride 62    Death 49
Larry and Harry get the "Schedule break of the Week" award as their team puts up a mediocre at best 62 points, but walks away with a win over the previously undefeated Death team. A long TD catch from Johnson lead the way for the Pride. The Commish had bad feelings about this week, as goin 3-0 was just to hard to comprehend. But this bad? Hardly could have imagined what happened. The Death have fired their trainer and brought in Richard Simmons to shape up the team. Hey, after having multiple players get injured in the first quarter the past two weeks, along with WR Flowers getting hurt and quitting college football altogether, maybe "Sweating with the 80's" is just the inspiration and conditioning this team needs to get back on track.

Maulers 83    Redhawks 53
Mike's team continues to plow through the UAL schedule like a team on a mission. Nothing fancy this week for the Maulers, just 5 players/teams in double digits to lead the way to the win over division foe the Redhawks. Mike's Maulers remain the only perfect team in the league so far, with 3 wins and 3 top 6 finishes. The Maulers are the team to beat this year. An A.P.B. has been issued for Redhawks coach Carey, as he failed to submit a lineup or turn in scores for the week. After the disappointing week #1, the Redhwaks rebounded with a solid win in week #2, but have sunk back to their original ways, and burning up both mulligans this week. Stayed tuned, the 2002 Pizza Fund may have its first deposit next week!

Cows 100    Cossacks 97
In the closest game of the week, Driver's Cows get the late FG to turn back Maze's Cossacks. This game was neck and neck the whole way, as these two teams slugged it out until the final kick. A big 33 point game from the Cows defense was their leader this week, and RB Henry chipped in 27 to finally put Maze away. Tom's team leads the C Division, with the Q-Dogs nipping at their heals. Maze suffers a tough loss, something that he seems to find a way to do quite frequently. The Cossacks post the 4th high score in the league for the week, but it still wasn't enough. For the 2nd week in a row, a Cossack player sets the new league high game for a player. This week was stud RB Anderson's turn, as he put a big 43 point game, but it still left the Cossacks a FG short of getting the win.

Q-Dogs 83    Titans 67
The Q-Dogs have turned to the past and brought back Coach Russ to help Al with the team, as Al is taking a little time to himself. While Al is still involved with the team, Russ's energy will hopefully provide the needed spark so the Q-Dogs will avert any more down weeks like a week #2 loss to the Redhwaks. With all that being said, things looked dismal for Al & Russ, as they could only field a lineup of 1 QB, 1RB, and 1 WR due to the bye weeks. Titans coach Jeff figured this was just what his team needed after the shellacking they took in week #2 from brother Mike. WRONG!!!!! Somehow the Q-Dogs pull out the win, getting a monster 40 point game from their defense, along with 23 from their QB and 17 from their K. Jeff was left scratching his head, trying to figure out how the hell a team with only 3 offensive players could beat his Titans. One word Jeff..... DEFENSE! Tough loss for the Titans, they need to rebound quickly as well, or Jeff and Merv will be watching Mike as the lone Myers representative in the postseason this year.
