Week #7

Demons are still undefeated while the Contributors sink to a new low scoring level. That is the two headlines in a relatively normal scoring week of division games. (Well, less the Contributors and Hitmen who certainly were below normal) The Filiricans get top honors this week with a 93 point game, while the Death fall a little short of the top prize with 90. The Tide follow up last weeks banner performance with a 78 point week to round out the top three. The Contributors had a season low 12 point game. Yes, 12 whole points. How did they even score 12 points? It's a miracle!

The Bandits move to 5-2 with a win over the Hitmen, who were just a little better than the Contributors as they scored just 24. The Fish remain a top the C Division with their 77-72 win over the Cossacks. The Machine now have the honors of having played both the high score in the league this year, and the low score this year as they beat the Contributors 69-12. Big brother Jeff (aka The Commish) takes bragging rights in the Battle of the Brothers as his Death team beats Steve's Destroyers team 90-74. The Luck get a huge 40 point game from Sharpe as they turn back the hard luck Cows.

STILL quiet on the trade front, although there has been a few rumblings of actual trade talks this week. Someone make a believer out of me!

Week #8 will be a quite interesting week. Four important fantasy teams all have bye weeks, as Green Bay, Miami, San Diego, St. Louis all will be off in week #8. Add to it numerous guys that are battling injuries, and it could be a real tough week for some of the top teams.

Now, lets take a look at the action from week #7:

Filiricans 93    Wapati 64
Welcome back Marshall! Faulk finally has the big game Johnny/Matt have been waiting for as their Filiricans team posts the top score in the league in a defeat of the Wapati. Brooks was also stellar this week as he had a 24 point game for the 'Ricans. Thanks to a top 8 finish and not one for the Bandits, The Filiricans have first place in the A Division all to themselves. Boyd/Butch have a relatively average week and had the tough luck of playing the leagues top performer. Garcia was yet again average, as he has been for most of the year. Staley/Portis had respectable weeks, but the Wapati still drop to 2-5.

Bandits 65    Hitmen 24
Al gets a win from his Bandits, and also with some help from the Hitmen who were outscored by Superman Holmes all by himself. Priest is running away with the sidepot as he had a 29 point week, and Bradford had a solid 19 at WR. Al has to be a little concerned that only two other players scored more than 2 points, which lead to the Bandits not finishing in the top 8. Holmes is good enough to carry the Bandits himself this year, but the rest of the team must step up soon. Next bandit QB please report to locker room, Brad is done. Bad week for Bill/John as their entire team went in the tank. Baltimore Def had 8, Dante followed up last week's good game with 5, and RB's Davis/Jones had 4 a piece. That is the GOOD news this week for the Hitmen!

Demons 77    Manatees 47
Eric/Tom continue their unbeaten streak which is now at 7, as their Demons easily turn back the Manatees by 30 points. Ward had a nice 20 point game on MNF, while Rice continues to amaze with 14, and Curtis is back to form with 13. Next up for the Demons is the Bandits, a solid test for Eric/Tom. Rich/Mark watch Favre crumble to ground in agony, and spend the rest of the game in the locker room. Luckily for the Manatees the injury is not real serious, or what little hope the team has left would have quickly been gone. Green did finally break through for 26, but no other Manatees player had more than 6. Add to it a bottom three finish, and it was no wonder Rich didn't send in scores and take the first Mulligan of the year in the league.

Tide 78    Maulers 52
Jeff/Scott seem to have the Tide turned as the team makes it two in a row with a solid win over the Maulers and a top 3 finish. The Tide had another solid game The Bus who has recovered from a horrendous start as he had 13. Trouble on the horizon though as the Bus blew out a tire and will be out for at least a week. Horn stepped up yet again with 22 to solidify the win for the Tide. Merv/Mike continue their troubles as they suffer their 6th loss in seven tries this year. Bye week QB Pennington was the team leader this week with 15, while Duckett had a nice 15 point game before he left with an injury as well. Tough times in Maulerville, it has to turn around soon.

Fish 77    Cossacks 72
An important game in the C Division, and Wayne/Jim's Fish win in a close game with the Cossacks. McAllister and Coles led the Fish offense with 17/13, while the Fish special teams/defense stepped up with 14 from kicker Hollis and 18 from Philly Def. It was an important win for the Fish, not only in the standings but as they take great pride in knocking the Cossacks down to the basement of the Division. Maze and his cohorts drop a crucial division game, as the Cossacks get a 0 point game from #1 pick Alexander to seal the defeat. Not to mention a wide open Burress on MNF that was grossly over thrown didn't help matters. Gannon remains the top QB in the game as he had a 21 point game to lead the Cossacks. Maze will have to pull out all the stops, maybe trading Harry/Sam for a little help on the offensive side of the ball.

Machine 69    Contributors 12
Frank finally catches a break as his Machine have a respectable 69 point game, and won by 57! Go figure? The Machine had solid games from Griese with 21 and Taylor with 20, and yes, Taylor is still healthy! No that deserves a big GO FIGURE??????????? McSwain put it best when he sent in his scores and titled the e-mail, "HUMILIATION". Agreed!

Death 90    Destroyers 74
Brother vs Brother goes to big brother Jeff as the Death have another solid week and get back on the winning side after two consecutive losses. Tomlinson had a 25 point game to lead the team, while WR Gaffney throws a TD on his way to 10. The Commish was a little disappointed in his QB performance on MNF, as 3 INT and just one TD pass from Manning left the team 4 points out of the top spot in the league for the week. I am sure that makes Steve feel a little better! (note, family matchups can be hell!) The Destroyers had a respectable week as they did crack the top 8, but a so-so week from McNabb and just 5 points from Lewis were a little to much to overcome against the high scoring Death. Stewart did step up for Steve with 22 this week, something Steve is hoping for a little more often as his team is still in the thick of the wildcard race.

Luck 75    Cows 58
Just call Tom's team "Bad luck", it would be more appropriate. The Cows always seem to bring out the best in their opponent, and this week was no different. Brian's team gets a truly unbelievable 40 point game from TE Sharpe. YES, 40 freaking points from the Donkey mouth that has been awful quiet this year. If Sharpe has normal 3-4 point game, the Luck don't crack 40 as a team. Yes, Brian's team lived up their name this week. Tom drops another game and slips to 2-5. Bledsoe had a down week for the Cows, as he scored just 7. James looked okay on MNF, but couldn't find the end zone. All told, make the Cossacks monster game against the Machine a "normal game", and the Cows do have the league high scoring average against. Yes, the Cows have had very little luck this year.
