Week #4

Sorry, no report last week. It is amazing how the days can fly by if you're not careful! It somehow became Friday last week and the report was still not done and I had an early day Saturday. Oh well, 3 out of 4 isn't bad! The action in the NFL and UAL leagues is really heating up.  Da Bears (not to be confused with Da Bros, unless you are dyslexic when reading their record) look to be the team to beat in the early NFL action, while the Colts are still the regular season Colts, but can Peyton finally win the big game? The Broncos are still waiting for 2005 Jake, while the Eagles are off to a solid 3-1 start. Of course the big news this week was "OD" by "TO". I don't know about the rest of you, but I was sick of the story about 4 hours after it broke. The Parcells press conference was classic, it was either the great acting performance of all time or just Parcells being Parcells I guess. This Sunday should be quite the day for Dallas and Philly fans alike! The league action has been quite competitive so far in both leagues. The Pain in NFL1 and the Destroyers in NFL2 are the lone remaining perfect teams. Big defensive scores have highlighted the action each week. The offenses are slowly catching up, but the top RB's selected continue to disappoint in many cases. A sign of the disappointment is Westbrook has a 17 point lead in the RB sidepot, even after sitting out Monday nights game. Some guys are finally heating up (LJ finds the end zone twice!) while others are still MIA (Randy Moss had a "breakout game" of 1 catch for 5 yards). Crucial division games this coming week, a true test for the contenders to step up. On to the game reports.....

NFL 1

Mustangs 72    Shamrox 59
Ted's squad gets the win thanks to a solid day from Peyton and his new found running game. Thomas Jones chips in with 17 as the Mustangs even their record at 2-2. The Commish drops his second straight thanks to sub par days from top picks LT and Palmer. After last week's debacle of having both top RB's on a bye, the Shamrox need a win in the tight A Division race.

Fish 81    Da Bros 31
Wayne/Rich are loving the healthy return of McNabb as the fish finally get win #1. Donovan has been the top offensive performer this year so far, hard to believe it took the Fish until week 4 to get their first win. Any more injuries to Eagle WR's and a McNabb to Kumpf connection might not be far off. Hard to believe but Al's squad drops to a very uncharacteristic 0-4 start. A top performer for many years, the Da Bros franchise just can't seem to put it all together and fans were seen with the dreaded brown bags over the head this past weekend.

Filiricans 87    Machine 49
On this week's episode of "How the Filiricans Turn", coaches Johnny and Matt decide to put their differences aside (mainly that meddlesome Paris who apparently was playing both of them) and the 'Ricans respond with a blow out of formerly unbeaten Machine. The emails each week from these two are quite humorous! God help both of them if the 'Ricans hit the skids again! Frank/Jim suffer their first loss of the year as stud Westbrook decides to skip the game. A goose egg from their QB added to the woes. The Ravens D remains top dog overall with an amazing 91 points after 4 weeks.

Destroyers 57    Persuasion 44
Steve/Joe get another win but fail to crack the  top 8 again. A huge day from Moss (the good one) with 32 makes up for another poor day from their RB's. The Destroyers are still waiting for Gates to get on track, when he does the top 8 will a frequent occurrence for the team. The Persuasion fall to 2-2 as the team couldn't much offense, and a -3 from their defense was the clincher of the loss. Not that it mattered, but picking up Porter as their lone sub for the week proved a bad move (surprise!) as he was a dnp filling in for Henry and his dnp.

Gangreen 93    Contributors 83
In a old fashioned shoot out, the Gangreen have just enough to outlast the Contributors. Bill/John get big days from Bulger and LJ with 20 each, coupled with another solid day from Da Bears defense with 18. John/Eric finally get their squad on track but ran into a tough match up. You can probably write that every week about one game! Another big defensive effort by the Falcons defense with 28 led the way.

Pain 71    Virus 35
Maze runs his record to 4-0 and a perfect 12 points as the Pain double up the Virus.  Tough decisions lie ahead for the Pain, as Maze now has 3 quality RB's, and on paper the worst is his first round pick. Yea, we all feel sorry for him! The Virus were out of this game with 5:24 left in the second quarter. After his amazing 87 yard catch week one, Brian emailed me and said leave Miller starting at TE every week for the rest of the year, no matter what. I guess he wasn't kidding as Miller started this week...... while on a bye.

Pride 107    Maulers 62
Larry sets a new weekly high with an astounding 107 points from his Pride squad. Five offensive players scored 14+ for the team as the Pride went shotgun, 4 wide on every single play of the game. No calling off the dogs either, as the Pride make a statement that they will be heard from again this year. The defending champs drop to 1-3 as the Maulers sure seem to be bringing the best out in their opponent. Immediately following the game Coach Merv/Mike announced Warner was done and a new QB would brought in. A Jeff George sighting was reported earlier today at the Maulers facilities.

CRMO 89    Doggy Style 48
JR/Corey make the right move on their bye week defense choice and get a huge win over the Style. A 34 point day from bye week pick up KC leads the team back to .500. Not that it mattered (they would have won anyway), for those that hate the bye week pick ups feel free to cut and paste this game report come rule vote time at year end. The Alex Smith led Style played about as well as Mr. Smith's NFL team. (it seemed like a good idea at the time?) Back to the free agent pool for the ever active JT!

NFL 2

Lemurs 61    Doublestuffed 41
The defending champs are now 3-1 as the Lemurs easily get by the 'Stuffed. A solid day from Leftwich makes up for the dreaded Monday night dnp from Westbrook. Fran/Billy are simply outmanned as their team is struggling to find the end zone. A thin WR corps coupled with a bye week for Barber, and the 'Stuffed need some answers soon as they fall to 1-3.

Vikings 65    Razor Clams 64
In the closest game of the week, Brian's Vikings escape with a 1 point win over the Clams. A huge Sunday night game from Maroney makes up for a -1 day from now benched Warner as the Vikings even out their record at 2-2. A tough loss for Ron and his Clams, as they fall a point short. Has there ever been a more disappointing fantasy player than M.Vick? The guy looks like God one week, and totally MIA the next. Always been that way, always will.

Destroyers 113    Maulers 75
WOW! The Commish and Steve needed 8 points from their Monday night players to get a win. The trio of McNabb, Jennings and Akers responded with 46!!!! Big days all around for the Destroyers as the remain perfect and sport a scoring average of 93.3. Yes, the team is off to a great start! Tough luck for Brian as his Maulers post their best score so far, and lose by 38. Is has to happen each week to someone unfortunately.

Connection 73    Club CC 50
A solid week for Chris/Scott as their Connection finish off the Club easily. In what is becoming a yearly occurrence (no, not another strong baseball finish), the Connection are led by their kicker (see Rackers, 2005) as Wilkins shines again with a 20 point week.  Troy/Trent  drop to 1-3 as their Club CC team can't get the needed consistent efforts. Reggie Bush has been a disappointment so far, and TE Witten has become invisible in Dallas.

Bombers 81    Nuetrilizers 61
Now this is the Al we all know and love! Al/Johnny's team go to 3-1 as the Bombers get big days from Brees, LJ and Glenn as they put up a solid 81 point day. Boyd's squad gets a very weak effort from top pick LT and little to help support him. Brady did show signs of life, and LT scoring 4 will not happen again this year, take it to the bank!

Bulldogs 75    Thunder 65
Jesse's 'Dogs bounce back with a solid win over the Thunder. The Peyton/Raven D combo has been lethal so far for the 'Dogs. Merv/Mike get a huge day from Moss but little else. Negative points from your QB and Def is no way to win a game. It was their first loss of the year, as the Thunder remain a top the C Division.

Gangreen 83    Lunatics 36
A good day from the entire Gangreen team as Bill/John get win #2. Bulger has finally caught on to the massive playbook Bill/John rolled out this year. JR/Corey get 11 from Grossman and not much else. At 1-3, the Lunatics need to turn it around quickly!

Dragons 73    Wide Right 33
Steve/Marv get solid days from many as their Dragons win easily over Wide Right. A zero from Hasselbeck is the lone concern, but Steve Smith sure looks healthy and will be the leader of the team the rest of the way. Brian/Daniel drop to 0-4, the lone remaining winless team in the league. The big WR combo of Chad/Larry disappoints again. Picking up a new TE might have been a good sign for the 'Right's fans, but when it turned out to be Jeremy Stevens it got even uglier for the team. Yes, that Jeremy Stevens..... the one who had surgery in the pre-season and is still a month away from returning.

A new feature this week, "Real Men of Genius". Cut and paste the link below for this week's song!
