Feel the Pain week 13

Can’t believe the regular season is already over, seems like the draft was just last month, my how time flies when your having fun. We had some side pots change hands this week. The Maulers took high average from the Bandits. The bandits took high RB from the Filiricans and the Fish reclaimed the high K from the Elephants.

The Playoffs are as follows:

8) Gangreen   at 1) Contrib

5) Filiricans    at  4) Destroyers

6) Pain            at  3) Maulers

7) Pride          at  2) Bandits

It was quite a finish, in the A div. The Filiricans lost to the Destroyers 46-51 and handed them the Div. title. As  result they get to play them again in round one. After talking to John and Matt, I have come to the conclusion that they laid down this week to get the rematch. They feel that the Destroyers are the weakest team in the playoffs and they would have a better chance to beat them then anyone else. Rumor has it the Steve said bring it on; I’ll kick their ass again.

The Manatees made a great run at the last playoff spot, but came up just a bit short. They finished in a tie for the last spot with the Gangreen but lost via head to head tiebreaker. The team that eliminated them was the Bums. If you recall when Ratt was guest writer he ripped on the Bums pretty hard. What goes around comes around is what Alford said. OK he didn’t say it like that, but I couldn’t print what he actually said. Brian really enjoyed playing spoiler this week. Guess who went off for the Bums again, yep Manning. His season total was 264, and obviously the highest total ever recorded by any position.

Brady’s team came out of the shoot like a stampeding heard of angry Elephants, knowing they had no chance of the playoffs. They reeled of 96 points and planned on stomping the life out of the Maulers. The Maulers must have has a pocket full of mice to ward off the Elephants as they put up 117 themselves. Needless to say their 78.2 points against didn’t do Elephants any favors this year.  The 117 output has the Maulers concerned as they can only hope they didn’t blow their load one week early. With the pain on the horizon they better still have something left or else they will be watching the rest of the playoffs from their Jacuzzi back in California.

The Death and Doggy played just for the fun of it this week. It wasn’t too fun for the Doggy though. They lost 70-99, leaving them with only one win for the year. That one win kept them out of a tie in the record books. If you recall, Taylor Murdock finished 0-13, a record I’m sure he must be proud of to this day. The Death really came on strong down the stretch but just ran out of time. Just think Jeff, football is almost over and you aren’t the commish of hoops. You get a break from commish duties till baseball starts up in April, enjoy it.

The Bandits got schooled by the Fish, get it, school, Fish. Al lost his high average side pot in the process, which had to hurt. Vick was back to his old self this week with a –4, making him still what I consider to be the most overrated player in the NFL. You got to give the Fish some props, they never gave up. If they only had RB Jones all year, they would have been a contender for sure.

The Machine finished in fine fashion as they upset the Gangreen. The Gangreen loss almost cost them the playoffs but with Ratt losing too, they managed to squeak in. Frank picked up a waiver wire reject in Hasselback and the change of scenery must have done the trick as he had a 26. this move could greatly help in his quest for a scrub bowl victory. John and Bill head in the next round on a down note, but down is better than not at all.

The Contributors put any chance of the Wapati making the playoffs to rest early. Curry almost beat them by his self, he had 27. The Wapati had the low score of the week , which was 35. On the sour note for the Contribributors , just when Curry was heating up, he tears an Achilles and is out for the season. John and Eric have formed a power team team together, who says that partners make it tough to win.

The pain put a hurting on the Pride and the Pain move from the 8th playoff spot to the 6th spot. What is the reward for moving up two spot, they get to play the highest scoring team in the league, the Maulers. Something just doesn’t seem fair about that, but why would I expect anything good to happen. With all the coaching blunders coach Karmazyn had this year, it’s a wonder they made it. Its as if they made in spite of himself. The Pride are slumping and it couldn’t have come at a worse time. Larry hit the panic buttom the other day and made three transactions in hopes of creating some new chemistry. If it was over coaching, only time will tell.

Record last week : 4-4

Season to date : 63-41

Coaching blunder of the week: we should start naming this the Filircan of the week as they are here on a regular basis. They Had Kennison on the bench with a huge day, and it cost them the Division title.
