Feel the pain  week # 11

Well boys, there are only two weeks left in our season, time flies when your having fun. We already have two divisions decided, the B with the Maulers and the C with the Bandits. These two teams are just keeping their fingers crossed and hope there are no major injuries. The Filiricans have a three-point lead in the A and the Contributors a four-point lead in the D. The real battle seems to be for the last playoff spot. We have a three-way tie, between the Gangreen, Manatees and Wapati.  On the side pot front, I sent out a top three earlier in the week. As you can see, there aren’t a lot of tight races this year. Holmes could lose his pot since he is hurt but the next back, Barber is also a Filirican. Unless something drastic happens, the leaders should be able to hold on to their respective pot. Lets take a brief look at what happened around the league this past week.

Lets start the week off with the team with the most coaching blunders. That would be the Filiricans, they had Muhammad and Kennison, both with two TD’s on their bench. Needless to say that cost them the win. The Pride don’t feel sorry for them what so ever. The Pride have to be happy with the win as their RB situation is not the best it has been, with Moore hurt, Green platooning and Johnson not living up to expectations. WR Driver picked up the slack this week, with a 18.

The Pain finally moved out of the dreaded last playoff spot with a win over the Bums. Moving up to the 7th spot gives coach Karmazyn and McNamara a little bit of wiggle room. The Baltimore def led the charge again with a 21. At the Draft everyone raised an eyebrow at a Def being selected in the 3rd round. If it weren’t for that pick, the Pain would not be where they are today. The trading of Green and Glenn for Johnson and Taylor was also criticized, but it looks like the Pain may have got the better of that one too.  Green got hurt last week and will also miss this week’s game, not to mention that Glenn got hurt the week he was traded. The Bums are just fortunate that their FFL 2 team is doing well.

With Moss hurt, it was a matter of time before the Wapati slipped up and moved down the playoff standings. The Destoyers have to consider themselves fortunate to have the 7th best scoring average and only 5 top 8’s but still be 8-3. I think he owes the schedule makers a beer. Steve got the better of this matchup , 60-52

Someone cool of the Contributors. John won basketball last year, college this year and now has the number one seed in the pro league. Erdman would like to take a little credit for the success this year , but he must have known a hot owner when he sees one when they decided to team up this year. There is now a kink in the armor though. Givens has to give up time to branch who just came back and Burress will miss two weeks. The Manatees made a game of it Monday night , but when Dillon fumbled on the goal line, he literally fumbled away any chance of win.

What can you say about the Machine that hasn’t already been said? Broken Spoke, missing a gear, rusting up, engine won’t turn over, threw a rod, you can insert yours here if you like . Basically it’s just getting old for Frank and Jim, and they can only look forward to next year. The Death on the other hand are smoking, but their terrible start did this team in early. Too bad the season wasn’t longer or this team might have gotten back into it. The Death put this Machine in the junk yard, 72-52

In the matchup between the division leaders ,the  Bandits and Maulers definitely lived up to the hype. The Maulers came back on Monday night after being down by 21 to win by 4, 78-74. Both teams can now put it in cruise control and who knows, maybe see each other again in the playoffs. This game was a friendly affair full of good sportsmanship. I guarantee you the next time they meet, the intensity will be way higher. There will not be any helping the other guy off the ground, or pats on the back.

The Gangreen were the top scoring team in the league this week. That goes to show you that this team has talent and don’t want to be counted out of the playoff hunt. They are now in a tie for the last spot, and hope to take sole position of that spot this week. They over coached this week a little and benched McCallister but still came out with the win. The Elephants arte mathematically alive but you would need a master’s degree in advanced mathematics to figure out how they would get in.

The Fish got their 3rd win of the year, it was against the Doggy, but a win is a win. The Fish are now out to save some pride. Being a former champion, this season has to be extremely frustrating. They are still saying on top of things and vow to play spoilers as much as they can. Coach Tyler of the Doggy and their 1-10 record can always look forward to the start of the Hoop season which starts on the 7th of Dec. Oh, wait, look ,Jeff has Artest on his team, guess this just isn’t his year.

I didn’t have a line on the last 2 weeks, but I’ll take a look back and try to guess what would have guessed.

Week 9  =  4-4

Week 10 = 6-2

Week 11 = 6-2

Season to date = 56-32
