Feel the Pain week 12

We have one week to go in the regular season and there are some interesting situations brewing. In the A, both the Filiricans and the Destroyers have clinched the playoffs, they do however play each other this week and the Division title is on the line. In the B, the maulers have clinched the Division and are sure to be resting his starters this week. In the C division, the Bandits have clinched the Division but still have something to play for and that is high average, high points and the number one seed. In the D division the Contributors have clinched the division but are still competing for high points and the number one seed. The real chance is for the last 2 wildcard spots. The Manatees , Pain, and Gangreen all have 19 points . The Wapati have 17 points and are still alive but will need help. The Bums,Elephants,Death,Doggy,Fish, and Machine will be playing for pride and momentum leading into the scrub bowls.

The Filiricans had another coaching blunder this week, they had Blaylock on the bench, but it didn’t cost them the win this time. They also gave up the high average, which they have held for some time now. The Contributors expected to have to score high to win this week, but their 62 was good enough for a 19 point win. The Contributors seem to be making all the right calls this year. The pickup of Green was good for 10 points this week.

The Bums must have got a lot of donations this week because they played like they were riding in a Cadillac. That Cadillac was Manning, who is have the best fantasy numbers ever recorded. The Pride scored 84, which is usually good enough to win, but going against the right arm of Manning proved to be too much of a task. Just think if the Bums got any production from the rest of the team where they will be right now. The Pride still would need a minor miracle to not make the playoffs so things are still bright for this team.

Feel the pain is putting it mildly for coach Karmazyn in this one. Here I go whining again, as usual. Where do I start. do I play Smith in a snowstorm or Bennett? Start Bennett, he does well very active and gets 5 points. Smith is a non-factor most of the game, with only 2 catches. But one of those was a 85-yard TD, the groans were heard in most parts of Aurora. The normally reliable Wilkens missed a 42 yard FG. Then the unthinkable, lined up for another 42 yard FG, they decided to fake it and pitch it to Wilkens who was quickly flattened. What was the coach thinking, a FG puts them within one score. The final score was the Destroyers winning 56-54. To add insult to injury Holt had 51 yards receiving just making into the bonus. Steve has been a little lucky this year and he’ll be the first to admit it, but this week was just plain ridiculous.

In a match up of teams tied for a playoff spot , the Manatees and Wapati had a barnburner, with Manatees getting the edge 79-73.  The Manatees who were seen floating belly up in the Channels of Florida early in the season have seen a turnaround the like of this coach has never seen before. They even took over the high Defense with Pittsburgh taking over the top spot that coach Karmazyn/Mcnamara previously held with Baltimore, how ironic is that.  Coach Ratliff is on cloud nine right now and deservingly so. The Wapati lost but the last top 8 spot they got have kept them mathematically alive. The Wapati coaching have not given up hope.

Like I said before the Fish never give up. RB’s Jones and Davis who both had 21 led them. The Death were 6 feet under with a –3 from the defense and 3 other players with a 0. Portis, one word = BUST, that pick sealed this teams fate early on. Do you think he wishes he were back in Denver right now?

The Maulers tied for low score in the league this week and if they don’t pick it up soon they will have little momentum for the playoff run. The Myers boys can only hope that they got it out of their system now. The Machine won 51-43, led by a super TE in Crumple, this guy will be heard from for years to come. I know you’re a Pittsburgh fan Frank, but how long can you hold onto QB Roth, a fantasy QB he isn’t?

Bandits hope they didn’t blow their load too early. They had a new season high 135, which is just plain sick. It also shows you how impressive the Cossacks record of 157 truly is, as they were still 22 pts short and that’s with the new and easier scoring system. The Elephants just sat back and laughed, as there was nothing they could do but watch the onslaught. Tom even scored a respectable 77 and got beat by 58. Getting Westbrook back surely will help Tom in the scrub bowls.

In the closest contest of the week, the Gangreen beat the Doggy 85.5 to 85. For the gangrene it was a must win to keep pace for the playoffs, for the Doggy it was a chance for their second win. The Gangreen had Harrison back to his old self with a 31, and late season pickup Griese getting 15. That pickup has turned out to be a great one for this team. His career has had a resurgence of late and should help him land a job next year. The Doggy got 26 from Stockley and 25 from Gates, but Green getting a DNP and the backup a 0, doomed this team to the doghouse.

Coaching blunder of the week : Pain with Smith on the bench, costing them the win.
