Rule Vote TE Position

There are two options on how to handle the issue.

 

Option A

Include TE's with WR at a position called WR/TE. Rosters would be 2 QB RB K DEF, 3 WR/TE, 1 RB/WR/TE OPT. TE's would still get the 1pt per reception bonus. One concern in the past on expanding rosters was the decreased ability to improve a team during the season. By moving the TE's with the WR it will put 16 additional RB/WR/TE on the free agent market. Stud TE's will still have premium value, they will now be compared with lesser WR opposed to lesser TE's as in the past. There will be some new strategy on how to use the top TE and how the can impact the RB/WR/TE skill positions as a whole. The elimination of the TE position also means that each league will only have 2 extra rounds, and time is an issue that has to be factored in. The downside to this option is we are eliminating one starting position and breaking up the "standard" NFL lineup. Teams have used the TE position as a position of strength in both matchups and sidepots when they use an early pick on a top TE.

 

Option B

Draft two TE's. Rosters would be 2 QB RB TE K DEF, 3 WR and RB/WR Opt. This option allows the roster to remain the "standard" NFL lineup. Teams can use an early pick on a TE to create an advantage at a thin position. Teams would have two specific players on their roster, so no bye week subs will be used. It also keeps the TE sidepot, another potential advantage to spending an early pick on a top TE. The downside is with expanded rosters at QB, TE, K, DEF it will be more of a challenge to improve mid-year with 16 less free agents available at the RB/WR/TE positions. Time is an issue with this option. The NFL 1 draft will have to start at 4pm, and there will be a very strict 2 minute per pick time limit. Teams will forfeit their pick if they go past the 2 minute limit, and they will have to wait until after the next team picks. (just like the NFL does, see Minnesota a few years ago).

 

Basically on this issue, pro's for one are the con's for the other. Please take all the information into consideration when sending me your choice.
