Feel the Pain week # 1

Welcome to the first addition of Feel the Pain, I hope everyone had a good time at the draft and came out feeling that this year is going to be the year. As we all know there can only be one champion so don’t feel too bad when the Pain take home their first trophy. From looking at the rosters, the teams that did well should not get too cocky and the teams that did bad should not be too upset. I see a league with quite a bid of parity and it should be a very competitive season. Lets take a look at last weeks matchups and make a few predictions on next weeks outcome.

Oh what I would have given to be a fly on the wall in the Kumph household last week. The Fish had what I’m sure they thought was a very comfortable lead going in to Monday night, 22 pts. Coach Karmazyn had pretty much given up and just watched the game for entertainment purposes only. After Green’s first TD early in the game, Wayne began to squirm a bit, and coach Karmazyn began to watch more closely. After Green’s 2nd TD Wayne began to pace a hole in his carpet, and coach K was busy counting yards to see if it was possible. Then it happened , Farve rolled out to his right and found green for his 3rd TD and a Fish loss. That noise we heard all the way to Denver was Wayne throwing things throughout his house.

The Beach Bums won despite the fact that Staley did all the work and Bettis got the TD’s. I guess that’s Pitt’s way of keeping Jerome happy. If Alford wants to be happy, that practice will have to stop. The Elephants got 25 from McNabb and still somehow managed to lose. RB Lewis of Balt. will have to do a lot better than a 2 if this team is to be competitive.

The Destroyers won and got  0’s from both of his RB’s. McMichael had an 18 to provide the win over Doggy Style. I wouldn’t count on that from week to week , so I’m sure Steve will be in the ear of his RB’s all week. The Doggy Style didn’t fair much better at the RB position as they combined for only 2 pts. Jeff and Scott have to be pleased with TE Gates’s 13. That kid has talent and could prove to be a force this year.

The Manatees only scored 33 points this week, so there really isn’t much to talk about. Ratt did make a QB move this week, and picked up Palmer, hopefully he can make a difference for his team. The Death caught a break this week as they got to play Ratts team. Jeff’s team only had 48 and 19 of that was from Portis, so I’m sure he is not happy with his teams performance.

Al watched his team face the Contributors Culpepper this week. TD after TD  after TD must have been hard to watch. The to make matters worse he had to get a phone call from Maze telling him his #1 WR(S. Smith) just broke his leg. John and Eric’s outing was not just a one-man show as they had 3 other positions go for double figures.

After Larry’s poor performance in baseball this year he began researching football about 3 months ago. It may have payed off as they had a league high 85 pts this week. Pennington and Miami def had nice weeks for the Gangreen but got very little help elsewhere, as their 47 can attest. McCallister should come around , so this team should be able to rebound.

Most of the RB points came from the Maulers / Filaricans game. Alexander had 28 and Martin had 25 for the Myers boys and Holmes had 27 for Johnny and Matt  .This game was quite a shoot out as the lead continued to change hands all day, but Holmes Sunday night performance was the last and final blow that left the maulers lying flat on their back on the canvas.

The Wapati might have found the steal of the draft as Griffin had a 30, and was quite entertaining to watch. That guy has more moves than my bowls the day after the draft. Frank had to watch his favorite team, the Steelers , who also happens to be his QB (Maddux) get a –1 from the QB position. Lets see if Frank has a short leash and cuts one of his boys.

If I put out my predictions before last week on last weeks games, I would have been 4-4

Last week 4-4

Season to date 4-4

Favorite                                       Underdog

Filaricans                         +  19  Bandits

Gangreen                          + 5     Beach Bums

Fish                                   + 12   Destroyers

Machine                            + 9     Manatees

Pain                                   + 13    Death

Wapati                               + 3     Maulers

Contributors                      + 7      Elephants

Pride                                  + 10    Doggy Style

I will take a $5 , 4 team parlay if you want to bet, but I can only pay 7-1, as I don’t put a whole lot of research  into these lines
