Week #11
Round Two saw both top seeds advance the Championship Game. The Pride and Elephants were the top seeds and both showed why with wins over the Cows and Titans. The Maulers put up 101 to win round two of the Scrub Bowl, while the Aldoggies scored 125 in beating the Cossacks in Scrub Bowl II.
Here is a look at the week 11 action:
Stingrays 95
Titans 81
It was father verse son, and Jeff put an
early scare into Dad's Stingrays. OU QB went off for the Titans scoring a huge
51 points to start off the day. Merv certainly had to be wondering how his team
would respond to the early Titan explosion. While Jeff was getting zeros from
Scott (surprisingly didn't play) and Jones (totally ineffective), Merv's team
responded with a huge game from his ASU combo. Walter and Hagen combined for 56
to offset the OU QB big day. Merv also got 22 from his Williams players, while
Jeff got 13 from Evans, but just 3 from Drew. The kickers and defenses were a
wash, so Merv escapes with a 14 point win and a spot in this years Championship
Game. Merv certainly was thinking his decision to bench the third Williams
player Roy of Texas could have proved costly as he had a big day while on the
Stingray bench. Safe to say, Roy will join his fellow Williams in the lineup in
the final game. A solid year for the defending champ Titans, as Jeff
consistently posted solid scores, despite his lack of wins. A good game from the
Myers gentleman as it provided much excitement to both.
Pride 119 Cows
54
While Game 1 of the playoffs was exciting,
this game was over nearly before it started. Larry/Harry's Pride continue to
plow throw the league as the Cows could do little to stop their Championship
run. Despite a 0 from RB Bell, the other two Pride RB's combined for 65,
providing enough to win the game by themselves. Fitzgerald keeps catching TD
passes, extending his NCAA record, while Air Force Def stepped up with a 20
point day. In the end, it was just another 100+ point week for the Pride,
setting up a showdown with the Stingrays as the two top teams battle for this
years title. Driver's Cows were clearly overmatched in this game, as they went
in a big underdog complicated by the fact they were missing their top WR's on
off weeks. No real stars this week for the Cows, as only Benson and the Cows'
special teams could break into double digits. A fine season for the Cows, even
if Tom wasn't around to share in the joy much. Tom will be moving on to a
co-coach role next year, which suits his schedule much better. In the end, it
was just to much Pride for the Cows to deal with.
Scrub Bowl Winner
Maulers 101
Mike gets the win in round two of the scrub
bowl, in a very convincing manner. No other team could score even 60, while the
maulers lit up the scoreboard. Jones was the main man for the Maulers, putting
up a big 43 point day. One more week to go, it can't end fast enough for most of
the scrub bowl teams.
Scrub Bowl II Winner
Aldoggies 125
Russ/Al get some revenge as they knock off
the Cossacks in a thorough whipping. Clayton led the team with 35, while CSU QB
helped out with 25. Maze was heard mumbling, "It's only $5, what the heck were
they doing running it up on the Cossacks?"
Good luck to everyone in week #12! I am outta here......
