Playoffs Round One

The Razor Clams were the lone division winner to advance in round one of the playoffs. So much for the top seeds! The Chieftains, Connection and Double Stuffed all get the win as they proved that going on the road come playoff time is no big deal. The next round will be quite interesting as the Clams are the reigning high scoring leaders, but posted the lowest score in round one. To say the playoff race is wide open, may be quite an understatement.

Now, lets take a look at the action from round one of the playoffs:

Razor Clams 55    Faukers 44
Ron's Clams get the win, despite scoring well below their season average. Vick was human this week for the Clams, and the stud RB's combined for just 10 points. A solid week from the special teams was the clincher for the Clams, as Oakland def had 12, and K Vinatieri also had a 12 point game. Next up for the Clams is the Chieftains, and they will have to score closer to their normal average if they want to advance. Troy/Trent continue to struggle to score, as their Faukers post the low score among the playoff teams. Gannon had a down week for the Faukers, and has been the story for over a month now, Marshall was of no help to the team yet again. The Faukers had excelled in the early season, but as Marshall showed he was merely average this year, the team then began to struggle. Troy/Trent did make the playoffs, which is always a plus, but certainly had hoped for a longer run than one and out.

Chieftains 81    CRMO 54
Harry gets the better of JR this week, as his Chieftains bounce back from last week's loss and move on to round two. Williams went for 200+ yards for the second week in a row to lead Harry's team. Favre had a solid 12 and WR's Streets/Booker combined for 19. A nice win for Harry but now faces the Razor Clams who are more than capable of putting up big points. JR bows out after a solid year from his CRMO team. It was a very average week for the team as no one really stepped up and had a big game as JR's team had become accustomed to getting each week. Tomlinson had 11 after a big game last week, but the WR's struggled as they combined for just 4. A tough loss for JR, who had shown his team could hang with anyone on most weeks.

Connection 74    Steamrollers 59
Here come Chris/Scott yet again! These two have made a killing in recent years of finding a way to the playoffs, and then turning it up a few notches and taking league championships. The Connection are looking like another one of those teams. Chris/Scott get a nice 26 point game from McAllister, and every other offensive player scored 8+ except for the TE. Next up for the Connection is the Double Stuffed, who are coming off a big week. Al/Boyd had the top team going into the playoffs but it was a mediocre week at best for the team and they get eliminated. Griese was back at QB and had a respectable 12, while Tiki had a 10, but no other player had more than 8. It is a tough loss for the Steamrollers, who had really looked like a team that had all the makings of championship contender.

Double Stuffed 92    Lemurs 58
Fran/Billy have their team hitting on all cylinders these days, as the easily turn back the Lemurs and move on to play the Connection in round two. Johnson was the co-leader this week with 25, while WR Morgan had two long TD receptions to also score 25. Add to it a normal week from Priest with 18, and that was all she wrote for the Lemurs. The Double Stuffed have out top scoring weeks back-to-back the last few weeks, and certainly look like a team that has overcome the loss of McNabb and the mid-season struggles they had faced. Ray/Jeff suffer the loss as their Lemurs just couldn't score enough to keep up with the hot Stuffed team. Taylor had 16 this week to lead the team, but no other player or unit could score more than 9. Maddox did not look like his pre-injury self, while the Lemurs two stud WR's were pretty average with just 8 points apiece. It was quite a battle for the Lemurs to even make the playoffs, so no shame for Ray/Jeff as they did work hard and did make a postseason appearance.

Week #15 Preview
Last week's record: 1-3   Year to Date: 41-35
Chieftains @ Razor Clams
Could be a very high scoring affair as both teams have shown signs of lighting it up. The Chieftains have Williams looking for his 3rd 200+ yard game and also have Favre who lives for the thrill of a playoff win. The Clams got a win last week, but certainly didn't have a banner game. Vick, Alexander and Henry all had off weeks, and are all capable of piling up the points. The Clams have the more reliable kicker and may just need that late FG to win the game.   Pick: Razor Clams
Connection @ Double Stuffed
Fellow C Division teams square off as they both are playing some good football at crunch time. The Connection will need another big game from McAllister, while Manning is certainly overdue for a breakout game. Manning is battling a sore knee, which could be crucial to the Connections chances. The Stuffed have Priest who can win games by himself, and Johnson has been on fire the last few weeks. If both keep up the solid play, it will be a tough game for the Connection   Pick: Double Stuffed

Good luck to everyone in week #15! I am outta here......
