The Connection, coached by Scott Rose and Chris Coffman have crowned the 2001 UAL Fantasy Baseball League Champions! It was an extra special weekend for the Connection owners as Chris also got married this weekend.
The 2001 Baseball season finally comes to a close, and I would like to thank all the owners for a great year. We will have lots of rule issues to discuss this fall, as well as how many teams will return next year. All this will be discussed and voted upon before the draft next year. I will keep everyone updated over the winter.
Lets take a look at the championship match up.......
Connection
3 Wiseguys 2
The Championship match up
started off with a bang. Scotty & Chris's Connection win 63-60 on the M-Th
games over Chris & George's Wiseguys. The Connection got a big 18 point game
from Guzman to win by the slim margin. Then the Wiseguys came roaring back and
posted 39-22 and 27-22 wins on Friday and Saturday. The Wiseguys were lead by
Green's big 20 point game on Friday, and then Green again on Saturday with a 9
point game. So the showdown was set for Sunday, as the Wiseguys held a 2-1
advantage in wins, along with a 126-107 lead in total points. And then BAM!
Disaster strikes the Wiseguys on Sunday.........Klesko -1, Chipper DNP, Segui
DNP, Alfonzo DNP, DeRosa DNP, Counsell DNP, Pierzynski DNP, Prince 0, San Diego
Pitching -2....... if you are scoring at home.......that is 9 players for a
combined score of (-3)!!!!! They did get 2 points each from their 3 OF's, but
that left the Wiseguys with a Sunday total of just 3 points. The Connection
meanwhile get games of 18 from Houston's pitching staff and 11 from Giles which
was more than enough to pull away with the win on Sunday, along with total
points. The final score on Sunday was 38-3 in favor of the Connection, and that
was the clincher for the team as Scott & Chris walk away the 2001 Champs.
Playoff
Week #4 Awards:
Player of the Week: Green, Wiseguys 45 Points
Shawn Green continues his torrid end of year pace, but it still wasn't enough to
help the Wiseguys win it all.
Pitching
Staff of the Week: Houston, Connection
39 Points
Coach Scotty's team gets the top pitching performance of the week for the third week in a
row, and the 18 point game on Sunday was the spark the team needed to win it
all.
Boxscore
Blunder of the Week: NO ONE!
I think the remaining teams are a little interested in how the games turn out,
so no worries about passing out this award again this year.

the top team in 2001.
